Can't install updates

Try to download lastest software, but keeps coming up saying windows error. Installed on laptop ok, but will not install on pc no matter what we try. This is what pops up ....A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
SOS some one please help me.

I have tried opening it through administrator, but no luck.

Did you have an older version installed on the PC before? What was the version number?

What version of windows is on the PC?

How far does it fet through the installation process before you see the error box?
