CPU/GPU Upgrade from GTX 460SE To GTX 560 speed

Can anyone out there give me an answer.
I upgraded my gpu to the GTX 560 from my older GTX 460SE.
The problem is.. my fps when ripping bluray is still the same.

My older gpu gave 52 fps when ripping avatar to mkv.
The new gpu is ripping at the same fps (52) using identical presets
Is this normal or should it be a bit faster as i expected

    Any feedback would be appreciated.

    Thanks Tony2507

I was just looking at specifications for each of those cards.
    Geforce GTX 460 Specifications
    Geforce GTX 560 Specifications

There's not really any super big improvement upgrading to the 560. Sure you get 50 more CUDA Cores and the rest of the specs increase a little as well but nothing really large. It's the CUDA Cores that are going to improve your overall fps.

I went with the GTX 560 Ti at double the cost of the regular GTX 560

I run around 75fps sometimes a little higher some times a little lower. Ripping to m2ts.

This is just my two cents worth.

      Hooded,

      thanks for your response.

I did a lot of research prior to buying this card. you're right about it not being a super upgrade, but the bandwidth of the 560 is about 19% higher than the 460 se. I calculated that a bandwidth increase of 19% should be a 6 to 10% increase in ripping frames per second.

This is based on my even earlier card 9800gt upgraded to the gtx 460 se.
I saw a big increase with that, and expected some sort of increase with the 560

I would have been happy seeing an extra 5 to 10 fps ripping avatar, but to get identical speeds with a newer card at higher bandwidth, didnt make sense.
I thought maybe the card was a dud, but it is what it is i guess.
Cannot complain. 52 fps is still respectable

      Thanks again for your response.

Are you using the latest drivers from nvidia's website?

          martythebrit,

Yes i have tried the latest drivers from nvidia. I have also tried older versions.

I also tried the latest nvidia driver in combination with an older cuda driver
being nvcuda.dll in the system 32 folder.
I get the same result no matter what i try.
The cuda is working ok, but as i stated before maybe my expectations were too high.

Are you able to return it and maybe spend a little more money on a better card?

I'd love to return it, but i have to be able to prove its faulty.

My windows index showed 7.7 and GPUZ shows a bandwidth of 120 gbits per second. It's doing everythijng the documentation says it should be doing.

Only my fps in dvdfab is lower than i thought it would be.

Am i wrong in assuming it would be higher fps

That expectation assumes that your system outside the GPU has the ability for higher speeds, which may not be the case.
