New version 9.0.4.0 audio codec not supported

Just a note on 9.0.4.0. I installed yesterday and noticed about a 20% increase in ripping speed. I'm using AVI/H.264/audiocopy for everything that I rip. I've done four BD's in the last 24 hours; Face Off, Drive Angry, Dune, and The Bucket List. All four received a audio codec not supported error when I tested them with my normal tests. I ran Mediainfo on each of the files and they all showed that the video and audio were correct. When I played it on my computer with TotalMedia Theatre 3, I got audio. When I played it through my Samsung BD player using DLNA or through the PLEX server also, it showed a codec not supported error.

Everything prior to the conversion to 9.0.4.0 did fine, so I have converted back to 9.0.3.8. I don't have time to troubleshoot the problem, but wanted to let everyone know that there is a possibility of audio issues with this version.

Just an update on the audio codec issue. I ripped Face Off again overnight and the audio is working fine under 9.0.3.8. When I get a chance to change back to 9.0.4.0, I'll try and provide more information.

Return to the audio codec not supported problem with 9.0.4.0, 9.0.4.2 and 9.0.4.5

I've mentioned this before. I have an issue with 9.0.4.0,2,&5. Each of them tell me audio codec not supported on any disk I rip. 9.0.3.8 has always worked fine and I always have to convert back to it to get anything to work. I'm at the end of my project and I've got log files and mediainfo to back it up. I'm trying to attach them. PLEASE HELP! I know it's probably something I may be doing wrong. I don't change any settings between versions and they all appear to be the same. I don't want to be stuck at 9.0.3.8 the rest of my life.

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.dvdfab_internal.log

Can you post the MediaInfo on the file that plays?

I've attached the same file that was ripped with 9.0.3.8 after I converted back from 9.0.4.5. I had similar results on all three versions. Mediainfo always looked basically the same with slight differences in stream and bit rate. I'm completely baffled. I keep looking over the settings thinking it is something there, but I just can't find anything. Please let me know if you see anything that stands out. I'll be happy to provide more information if needed. Thanks.

We will also need the MediaInfo for the one that does not play correctly (from 9045). For these tests you can convert only a few chapters to save time if you didn't save the bad files, the MediaInfo data will be the same. Please use the same source disc.

All information is attached in through the thread

The ShutterMediaInfo.txt attached above the previous message is the one from the 9.0.4.5 version and the ShutterMediaInfo9038 is the one from the one that works. Log files are also provided above for instances of failure for 9.0.4.0, 9.0.4.2 and 9.0.4.5 also with successful runs of 9.0.3.8 which is the only one I can get to run properly without giving me the codec error

              Thanks,

This is the codec ID from the file that won't play:
                Codec ID : 00001000-0000-0120-8000-00AA00389B71

This is the same info from the file that plays:
                Codec ID : 2001
Codec ID/Info : Digital Theater Systems

9.0.4.5 does the same thing for me avi.h264.audiocopy.

                  90312,

Thanks for the info. I didn't even see that between the two files. Sorry...I don't know a lot about reading these things. I'm assuming that you just confirmed this is a problem?? Or am I setting something wrong under 9.0.4.5. Either way, it was the same movie and the issue seems to be with DTS. I may experiment tonight and see what it does with other codecs.

                  Thanks

I'm just saying that it could be a problem? Try AC3 or AAC audio snd see if it will pass through the network ok.

If that long string codec ID is the problem switching to AC3 is not going to help:

                      Format : AC-3
                      Format/Info : Audio Coding 3
                      Codec ID : 00001000-0000-0020-8000-00AA00389B71

Just out of curiosity, are all your Codecs & your video drivers up to date?

The reason I ask this is that such simple items can cause big problems if they are not kept updated regularly.

As for AC3, you can try this here AC3Filter 2.6.0b

This is the Home Page - AC3Filter.net

You can go to Filehippo.com to check your installed codecs and audio programs (DivX, QuickTime, Ect...) against the most recent versions or even use their update checker if you want. Although if you use the update checker, I would recommend paying careful attention to the recommended updates as sometimes it recommends updating a paid program which you may have chosen not to upgrade, to update with a trial or shareware version as someone has failed to recognize the difference between paid and otherwise.

Also, if your Power Supply is under powered for your system, that can cause problems too, although I can't see that being the problem here.

Good Luck and I hope this might be of some help.

Ok, first let me apologize for taking so long to get back to you about this. In addition to the work already done, I ripped the same movie in AVI/XVID/AC3 and the other in MP4/H264/AAC. I'm attaching the log showing where the two files were ripped under 9.0.4.5 with some other stuff prior to it under the 9.0.3.8 version. I've also attached the mediainfo information for each. The reactions were as follows: AC3 did not play and got the same error; the AAC actually did play, but both the video and audio were so choppy/cutting out that it made the movie irritating to try and watch.

I'm looking into the codec and video driver suggestion; as well as the power supply issue. The computer is a Toshiba laptop with I7 processor, 8GB of memory and 750GB hard drive running on Windows 8. I don't really think I have an issue with the hardware and as far as the latest drivers/codecs I have to ask why it would work perfectly under 9.0.3.8 and only begin having the problems with every version after that one?

I'll inject another issue into this that makes updating drivers and codecs difficult. I run a Plex server and use 3 different models (2010, 2011, 2012) of Samsung BD's to allow running of the Plex client to the TV's. All of these react the same; however, if I run it locally on the computer, I get no sound on the AVI/H264/Audiocopy, It runs fine on the MP4/H264/AAC, and I get no video, but do get audio on the AVI/XVID/AC3.

I don't want to be a pain with this, but I keep going back to the fact that everything ran perfectly (except for one movie, Diary of a Wimpy Kid Rodrick Rules, that I cannot get to work and continues to say it can't read the disk, but plays fine in the player). I've tried each successive version past 9.0.3.8 and they all seem to have the same problem. I'll admit, it could be me. Something changed drastically though to go from working to broke.

Anyway, I know you guys are working on it and I greatly appreciate it. I'm going back to 9.0.3.8 in the mean time. Please let me know if there is anything else you would like me to test.

                            Thanks,

                              Bravo!!! 9.0.4.7 Resolved All Issues

I'd really like to thank everyone who worked through this problem with me on this issue. I loaded 9.0.4.7 today and looked down at the only BD that I haven't been able to rip and figured why not, lets give it a try. It loaded perfectly with no errors and ran fine when completed. Then I went back to my test movie Shutter and ripped it. No errors...loaded it into my Plex server and it played fine on all three of my Samsung blu-rays that I use for the client and local transcoding. It really makes me happy to have my entire video library loaded and on the network now. I couldn't have done it without DVDfab!

Thanks to all who work so hard to make this such a great product!
