How long will 8.2 be supported with updates ?

At some time will 8.2 no longer get updates to allow backup of the
newest DVDs? How long do we have?

This is not known as far as an absolute date. There is an update for v8 that was released in the past 24 hours, and there may be some in the future, but they will not be as frequent as those for v9.x.
