I thought you might want to know that when I registered, I was given immediate access and I got an email welcoming me but it wasn't a confirmation email or activation, just a simple welcome. Just in case you need to know.

CD Freaks updated recently and ended my long affiliation bwith it ecause I had a space in my user name. It simply could not provide for carry over of users with an 'illegal' user name. Is this forum linked in any way; looks better than CD freaks because it is totally DVDFab focussed.

It is linked only in that most of us here were at CDF previously. I remember you, wish you had joined us here sooner, but glad to have you now. The forum is run by Fengtao, so it is closely DVDFab focused.

But is it not the case that if you are not a registered member (i.e. you had problems with the forum registration) you cannot make a post?

Not necessarily. For instance, at the time this thread was started, there were many users that could post but could not upload their avatars due to quirks in the way registration was set up. It is also possible for new users to have problems with the ability to use the visitor message system, personal message system etc. but still be able to make a post.

My old login quit working. send password said my e-mail was not valid 3 seperate emails to admin resulted in no action finally had to re register

I received no emails. We are planning some changes in forum registration and in the Contact Us link that appears at the bottom of every page that will allow even unregistered users to contact someone that can help with email validation and similar registration problems. This is not in place yet but hopefully will be soon.

I noted this in my post below, but the CAPTCHA was not showing up in FireFox...I had to switch to IE to register. FireFox 3.5.6 with NoScript and AdBlock Plus disabled.
