I downloaded (successfully they said) a DVD to my laptop but when I try to play it I get the message that I need Intel ITU H.264 codec? When I do a search I am directed to all sorts of websites but nothing that helps. How do I install the H264 codec???

Just install VLC media player (www.videolan.org). It is free and has all codecs built in. It is the player that the DVDFab developers use for testing.
P.S. I think Videolan also has a free version of the H.264 codec (x264) if you want to keep using your current player.
