Will dvdfab backup HDDVD?? And can i use a BD-ROM??

    I have a BD-ROM /DVD BURNER.

Can i make backup of HDDVD on this drive to? Or do i need a BD-ROM/HDDVD-ROM?

And will dvdfab let me backup HDDVD like i backup blu-ray?

I only make full backup original size. Keep everything.

The following link is in Norwegian, but the picture of the BD-ROM also say HDDVD. With this drive i should be able to play the two formats.

    Thanks.

This has been asked before about Fab and I think the answer is no, At one time it would do HD DVD's. I have none to test so another member will have to comfirm this.
Might also try the search fuction of the forum for an answer.

    Moved thread to general questions.

I have an installed copy of 5n (don't remember specific version). I'll be trying this tonight when I take delivery of my XBOX HD-DVD reader.

As for finding a copy of 5n, I couldn't locate one to download. All of the sites that say they have it (including 9-Down) report the file is no longer available. It would be REAL handy if the devs at least made old versions available to registered/paying users.

They have steered away from this due to the logistical and support problems it represents. I will look for 5322 in my archives and post it as an attachment to this post for a limited time if I can find it.

Having problems with the upload on the forum end. Will try again when I am not on motel internet.

Tried to upload that version but it says the security token is missing. Maybe my upload speed is too slow (~20K).

Same here. I will tinker with it when I get home.

Well, I have 5.3.2.2, and while it saw there was a disc in the drive, it wouldn't load it up for ripping. I had to fall back to [other software].

It would be nice if they put hd-dvd support back into dvdfab...

easiest way is to demux hddvd with x software. use y software for audio recoding to 5.1 and then use x software to combine the new audio and video into an m2ts file. Use z software to compress into a 6gb mkv 1080p file.

                  Yup, same here too.
In the interim, I'll be glad to email anyone that wants any of the Fab 5.x versions. Just drop me a pm and include your email address.

Have I missed it, or is it a typo - there was no v5322...

The last one listed in v5.x changelog is v5232, but I also have v5250 (strange that it's missing from the changelog).

BTW, replacing the name of another product mentioned in a message that does what dvdfab won't do because the DVDFab devs *removed* it from the code is patentedly absurd. I wasn't advocating the other program's use, I was merely mentioning it as a consequence of DVDFab not being capable of doing what I want it to do.

                        @jsimmons

On another note, I was trying to recall just which version of Fab 5.xxx successfully handled hd-dvd.
I could dig for the info and email the appropriate version to you.

Do you have an idea which version? (I'm always looking for the easy way out...).
                        Are you still interested?

I guess a typo of sorts...we should have been more accurate.
                          The version is:
                          v. 5.3.2.2 Beta

The software reference was removed because of forum policy and had nothing to do with how it was used in your post.

No longer interested in a DVDFab-based solution for this.
