    HELP!! Threat Detected Warning!!

Just tried to open DVDFab (which I used earlier today) and AVG popped up with a message of THREAT DETECTED:

file MSVCR90.dll which the program needs to access is listed as containing possible threat WIN32/DH.CAFF82037E

I've uninstalled the program, downloaded it again from the site and still get the same message when installing it.

    Anyone else run into this????

Just had the same message...I'm thinking it is a false positive. Checking into when the last definitions for my AVG Business Edition were updated (my guess is about 10 minutes ago).

When breaking digital locks becomes outlawed, only outlaws will break digital locks...and watch movies in whatever format they want to, without annoying adverts and messages, etc.

yes, I just started receiving this message. I took the chance and "ignored" the threat but it didn't seem to make any difference to the installation - it still won't access the necessary file and therefore, DVDFab wont' open, Jeesh!!!

Yup, my last update was about 12 minutes ago...I'd be surprised if it was a true positive...doing some more digging on the threat before I press ignore. Will post back.

Processlibrary reports that the msvcr90.dll is part of Microsoft Visual Studio.

Can a mod verify that this file is a legit DVDFAB file and the date, size and correct file location it should have?

            Still researching.

This is my first post but I have been a DVDFab user for a few years now. Up until just a few minutes ago, never had a single problem. I just tried to open the program. Got the same threat detected message from AVG ad uninstalled and reinstalled twice with no different results. This sucks. Anyone have a workaround ?

Reasons I suspect that it is a false positive:

                The new definition flags it.
Several people here are reporting the same problem all of a sudden.
AVG says that "...may be infected by an unknown virus...". The key words here are "may" and "unknown"
The virus that is named is not coming up with any hits (yet) on search engines.

However, both my machines are internet attached, so if a mod can verify, off a non-internet attached machine, the accurate file details then we can start comparing them to what we have.

No hits on Google, Yahoo or Bing.

                  Still looking.

I just finished running a check with 41 virus checkers and they found 0 problems.
AVG was not one of the 41.

Even AVG has no information when you click the "More information about this threat..." link in the alert.

I take that back AVG was one that reported no problem.

                          AVG version 9.0.0.836

What version is reporting the problem for you?

                            Impressive!

What are your file details (size, date and path/location)?
