    Missing Profiles for DVD Ripper?

Hi, I just downloaded 8.0.3.2 and thought I would try out the DVD Ripper to convert some of my DVDs into a Nexus One compatible format.

I don't know if DVD Ripper has a Nexus One profile, but actually, I cannot see ANY of the profiles that are shown in this tutorial:

I'm also a little unclear as to the difference between DVD Ripper and Video Converter.

What I have done in the past is use HD Decrypter to back my DVDs up and then use xxxxxx to convert them for my phone. But xxxxxx is becoming more and more annoying, so I am considering purchasing either Video Converter or DVD Ripper.

Can Video Converter convert to video from a [VIDEO_TS] folder?

    So again my questions are:

    DVD Ripper:

Why can't I find the cellphone profiles in DVD Ripper 8.0.3.2?

Is there a cellphone profile for the Nexus One?

(If not, what are the best settings for a Nexus One?)

    Video Converter:

What is the difference between DVD Ripper and Video Converter?

Can Video Converter convert a [VIDEO_TS] DVD folder into a video?

    Thank you!

Video Converter does not decrypt content and can not read the DVD IFO files. DVD Ripper and Blu-ray Ripper can. For the profiles to show up, you must have some content selected, i.e. a DVD disc, folder or image file must be loaded and a title selected from the list in the window. Check the New Profiles thread to see if one has been added for your device. If you know its video requirements, you can probably find an existing profile that will work (or one can be added).

      Thank you

Yes, shortly after posting this, I figured out the "trick" to getting the profiles to show up. (And no, there is no Nexus One profile)

And thank you for the answer to the Video Converter question as well.

If you will post the video requirements for the Nexus One (or a link to them) I will make a profile for it if one is necessary.

Not sure what they are, but...

I know from experience that it is close, but not quite the same as the (one of the) iPhone. Except that I think the pixel shapes are different.

I always nail down the exact format, then I go on a trip and when I get back, it's all lost until the next I need to rip some dvds for a trip.

Here is a thread that seems to discuss the facts as I know them:

          Link Removed

If you want to create a profile based on that, that would be great.

This morning playing with DVD Ripper, I stumbled as I could not figure how to tell Ripper to use what xxxxx calls anamorphic = none shaped pixels.

Also, I'm not sure of the exact size or width a video should be. I made a few of them at 800x480 the resolution of the device, but the videos came out all stretched -- I'm not sure why.

              Hi AGJ,

My apologies if I violated forum rules, but following your link, and reading the forum rules, I am not sure what I did that violated them.

The link I put in was to iirc, a nexus one forum, not what I believe was an affiliate or referral link.

If you can clarify what you felt was the problem, I would appreciate that.

              Thank you,

              Jerry

The link had instructions on how to use freeware to convert DVD compliant files to mobile format. Even though it freeware it still competition to DVDFab and is explained in the General Policies
