burning backup .iso to 50gb bd-r DL disc issues

It's funny when I burn my single layer verbatim 25gb disc's the software says it's a dual layer disc, do you want to continue, of course I say yes and burn and the discs work fine.. but it's compressed.... and you cannot compress w/ 3d disc's at least I have not been able to.

I finally got some 50gb DL disc's so I can backup my 3d blu-rays and now when I put the media (verbatim d-r DL 50gb 4x) in it says it's a single layer disc and won't burn the .iso backup I have on my hard drive. The program will not see it as a DL disc...

    What gives? Using version 8056

    Hi Stumblinh,

Please try DVDFab 8.0.5.9 Beta at

We suggest you install Imgburn at , click the round green icon button with a check mark at the right top corner of the DVDFab screen, open "Common Settings" window, click on "write", set the burning engine as Imgburn, then burn again to see the result.

Please visit to set DVDFab work together with imgburn.

    Kind regards,
    cici

This does nothing as it won't even start to burn... dvdfab still rejects the dual layer 50gb disc, actually it's saying its not blue-ray dl disc please insert a dl disc.... It is dvdfab messing up as I was able to drop the .iso image into isoburn and it worked, but it did not burn a 'iso' of the blu-ray disc as there is a bunch of dvdfab info listed on it... so I have a coaster.

Post your ImgBurn log and DVDFab logs.

Please help me.. I just paid for a LifeTime for this product and it is completely useless.. I can't get it too see DL discs and the only real use I wanted this for was backing up blu-ray 3d discs, which this program will also not compress properly to 25gb discs so I'm stuck using the more costly 50gb discs which it just rejects saying they are not DL... PS as I said even image burn saw the discs as DL 50gb discs and burned w/o issue.. just not in a movie format as your iso data needs your app to burn properly.

Would there be a log? it won't see the media to start anything.. it won't start burning it just keeps kicking the tray open saying I need to put in a DL disc.

I didn't save the log from when I just opened the .iso file in imgburn and made the disc, but the disc works fine it's just in the wrong format (has strange folders etc due to I guess the way dvdfab builds the iso image).

I'd 1st suggest d/ling DVDfab virtual drive and mounting the iso you created and playing back on the pc with softwre that supports BD 3D, TotalMedia Theatre 5 has a trial period and should suffice for testing. I don't have PowerDVD but it may support 3D playback.
If the file plays back ok post back here and we'll go from there. (for testing purposes I'd also suggest getting a re-writable BD 50gb disc and Fab can't compress 3D disc to 25gb at least not yet but I think it's in the works)
Also stick with ImgBurn, the error of not recognizing your media is most likely a VSO bug.

Ok' I'm sure based on this comment I'm not communicating this correctly..

THIS IMAGE is Fine, the DVDFAB program WON'T EVEN START TO BURN THE IMAGE BECAUASE IT THINKS the dual layer disc is a single layer disc... I can open the image that was made in dvdfab directly in imgburn and burn it to a 50gb dual layer disc just fine, but the result is a bunch of folders so I'm pretty sure you need to burn the .iso from withing DVDfab to get the correct layout. AGAIN the image is FINE, the DVDFAB PROGRAM WILL NOT START BURNING IT EVEN WITH IMGBURN AS THE ENGINE IT SIMPLY SAYS IT'S NOT A DL disc AND OPENS THE DRAWER AND SAYS TO PUT IN A DUAL LAYER DISC.

Well would you mind pointing out where you said you tested the iso by playing it back on your computer? All I see is you tried burning it with ImgBurn and something called isoburn...
Maybe you need to chill out and stop shouting (caps) if you want help and gain some basic computer skills.

In case anyone else is attempting to burn a 3d image file to blank media I'd suggest reading this thread especially post #20 and heed the last sentence in that post because I don't own any 3D disc nor can I play them back for testing.

                      Peace out!!

Yes good link, this is what I did, made the image file using that setting. I will try a direct clone and bypass the image all together tonight, but I'm not sure it will help as the problem isn't w/ the image it's the fact that dvdfab thinks my dual layer disc is a single layer disc and just wont start. Also as I mentioned before when I put in a single layer disc I get the warning saying this is a dual layer disc, continue anyway? and I always have to hit yes to burn and then it does it thing. Something is backward.

PS the caps were to highlight my words that I thought were being overlooked.. not trying to yell just point out. Anyway thanks for the replies, at least someone is trying to help me

updated my player, mounted the iso and it does work.. verified.

I also dropped the 3d blu-ray that I burt with imgburn (from the clone img I made w/ dvdfab) into my actual 3d blu-ray player (panasonic) and even though the files are NOT the same as the original disc... it DOES play and it DOES play in 3d!! So at least this burn was not a waste!! Good working backup of my Avatar 3d disc.

Now how do I get dvdfab to recognize my 50gb discs and burn them is the only question left.. at least I can use the fab to make the image and isoburn to make the disc for the time being while this bug is worked out.

I'm letting the movie play through right now to verify no issues... I'll update after it plays through.

Your standalone BD player? If a standalone player that may possibly been the problem all along.

No I never put it in the stand alone bd 3d player until after I loaded the iso.. started up no hiccups in the panny

I was going to run my 3d off a ps3 but way too many issues out there from what I read w/ burnt discs. got a great deal on the HTIB panny setup.. and it does checkerboard for my 61" samsung led dlp (which looks better than most 3d setups mind you (lcd, led, plasma)).
