    failed ISO Burns

    About half of the iso burns I try to do will all fail at the 90% mark. I have no problem with converting the blu-ray disc to an ISO. I am using dvdfab 8.0.7.3. I have a Pioneer BDR-206 burner. I am using Ritek and Optical Quantum blanks. I have tried using ImgBurn and have tried another ISO burning program and they both fail at the 90% mark. Seeing two different burning programs have failed at the same point, it seems to be a problem with the ISO file. Does anyone have any suggestions or fixes?

      Burning issue

      This is strictly a burning issue. I have no problem creating an ISO file. But about half of the time the burn will fail at 90%. I have tried two different ISO burning programs including ImgBurn and have tried two different brands of blank discs. I have tried burning at 2x and 4x with no difference. Have also tried burning with the DVDFAB program itself, but that was even worse. The strange thing is that it does not happen all the time. I just tried the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie which was 100% and no compression needed. That burned failed at 90% also - twice. There seems to be something faulty with the ISO file created by DVDFAB.

      Admin Note: You are posting this in the wrong forum. I will move it to the right one if you tell me if you are using DVD or BD.

        There seems to be something faulty with the ISO file created by DVDFAB.
        The burner only sees 1 and 0 not what's in it. Can you posts a burning log from one of the failed burns?

          I will try another burn. Not sure if ImgBurn has a burn log. Perhaps so I can use a bd-re disc so I don't waste another disc. This is getting expensive.

            Failed ISO Burn

            OK, here is the latest. On my latest failed ISO burn the ImgBurn log file just said write error at 93%. Now this is what I tried next. I burned the same file to a bd-re with no problem. Now here is what I tried next. I ripped the image from the good bd-re disc into ImgBurn and then I tried writing from that image to a bd-25 disc. Voila, it worked, but why? I am not sure at this point where the problem lies. I can't believe that all the discs that are failing are due to bad media. I am using Ritek and Optical Quantum on a Pioneer BDR-206. Any suggestions.

              Please post the log files as requested. If the ISO was produced with DVDFab, post the Fab internal log also.

                  I have had problems with both of those disc brands!! But I know a lot of people have had no issues with them too! What brand is the BDRE? And the discs failing because of bad media could be the cause!! There was a bad press of Iron Man II and people took them back and were able to burn them!! It could be your burner. They wear out! I had some issues with my BH08 and bought a new BH10 and all the burns were perfect!

                    Well the only thing that makes any sense is faulty media. I have been a Ritek user for many years. Perhaps their BD-RE media needs some refining. The BD-RE I am using is Ritek. And according to many forums the Optical Quantum's are the discs to use. My burner is only a couple of months old, so I don't think that is an issue. I am leaning towards the blank media as the problem. I will keep experimenting to see what works. Thanks for your thoughts. Happy ripping!

                      I picked up some memorex BDRE which are not memorex at all and after full format and burn I could not get a single one to play!! I use TDK and dont have a problem at all! I picked up 5 50GB TDK from and ebay store for 46.99 shipped!

                        Failed ISO Burns

                        Hey DiabloZoe, if you are interested in 50GB blu-ray I saw at mediamegamall.com they had Panasonic 50GB discs for 6.25 each. Unfortunately you have to buy a 50 pack. But that is the cheapest I have seen for 50GB discs. Just not sure how the Panasonic discs would be. If we continue on this conversation we should probably start a different thread.
