Hi, recently bought a blu-ray burner. I backed up a few of my movies and it seemed to work fine. I'm using memorex bd-r 25gb. The last 3 burn I tried failed around 98% from being finished. I checked the write setting and notice that for bd-r 25gb, the default setting is 23.7gb. Does this mean a 25gb bd-r can not really hold 25gb of data? If this is true, does this mean I can't have more than 23.7gb of data to fit on a 25gb disc? If I change the setting to 25gb, will this help? Thank you..

Correct, they cannot. Like DVDs, the manufacturers figure the value of a gigabyte differently to make the discs seem larger. A "4.7 GB" single layer DVD actually only holds 4.38 GB of data etc. Leave the setting at 23.7, DVDFab will compress the content to make it fit. The problem may be the blanks you are using. For what it's worth:
I use lots of Memorex discs, both br-25's and dvd +r-dl, the trick I 've found is burn SLOW....... Br-25's burn at 2X, dvd+r-dl's burn at 2.4X, this is with LG burners, which I have found to be far superior to others. I will maybe get 5 coasters out of 100 disks, which when figured at what I have paid for them, NOT TOO BAD !!!!!
My 2 cents, StuAMD Phenom II X2 550 Callisto unlocked to 4 core Denab @ 3.8mhz, MSI 785GM-E65 M/B, 4 Gig Geil DDR3-1333, EVGA GTX-260 192 Core, Corsair 700 W power, LG-BHO8LS20, LG-GH22LS50, IHOS104 DRIVES, 750 WDC Caviar Green, Hitachi 500, 2 TB WDC Caviar Green, SATA HD Drives, ASUS Xonar Essence SXT Sound, 2 Samsung SYNC 2333'S, Windows Vista 32 Buisness Edition.

Verbatim with AZO Dye from newegg $23.99 free shipping not bad deal. I'm in Canada and last 100 disc spindle I bought from Future Shop paid $19.99 and zero coasters. Still have 300 more. The Taiyo Yuden I use out of 2,000 I have got Zero coasters but I pay about $40 per 100 disc spindle with shipping for them. Since these are top of the line media they will last for years and will not be problematic 6 or 12 months later when I try to play them like TDK, Imation and others I used to use back in 2005 when I never knew the difference
Have not burned any Blu-ray media yet so not know what is good or bad for them

On the ones that I was successful with, before the burn process started, I got a message telling me that the media detected is a bd-r 50gb and only a 25gb disc is needed and would I like to continue? Why is it reading 50gb when it's only 25gb?For Win7 C:\Users\User Name\My Documents\DVDFab\Log
