Why a 9800GT?

This Card is

1. 3 yo
2. slow
3. not the best , maybe you mean the 9800GTX?

if yes then buy the GTS250 is just an one2one copy from the 9800GTX

pay ~50€ more and buy the GTX460!

Will more cudas on the card help boost the performance of ripping it faster ?

Generally, and other things being equal, yes more cores in the GPU are better, especially if you plan to use it to do decode and encode simultaneously.
