Trying to duplicate How To Train Your Dragon 3D (old & current version of dvdfab)

I picked up How To Train Your Dragon 3D, and tried it yesterday in the latest build of DVDFab, and ended up with the same results that I've had with other Dreamworks films (Shrek 3D, Megamind 3D - in another post)

This time, I downgraded my software to 8.0.8.5 and will post my logs.
Then I'll upgrade back to the current version and post my logs again after another try at a Full Copy.

Here are my logs for 8.0.8.5. What is happening is that the disc gets a black screen and pauses where it should be playing the 2D dreamworks logo at the beginning of the disc (before the 3D kicks in at the main menu)

Is it possible to do a full copy, but have it jump right to the main menu?
Maybe that would eliminate all the problems I have with these Dreamworks Blu-Ray 3D films hanging at the beginning of the disc?

Note: the other two log files are empty when I look at them.

Please download and install ImgBurn use this as your default burning engine, remember to set up AWS. Your logs show you are burning a BD50 so I assume you are writing to a BD50 so make sure your burn speed is 2x. Also do a clone a 1:1 copy of this movie and see if you have better results.
    For Win7 C:\Users\User Name\My Documents\DVDFab\Log
    or Vista C:\Users\User Name\Documents\DVDFab\Log
    or for XP C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\My Documents\DVDFab\Log

      Hi DiabloZoe

      1) Yes, I already had imgburn installed and active as my burner thru DVDFab
      2) Burn speed is 2x (which is the max speed of my RW disc)
I burn permanent discs at 2x also. (when the copies work)
      3) Clone 1:1 did the exact same thing (That was the first method I tried)
      4) Set up AWS? This is the only thing I have not done.

i've put the latest DVDFab on my machine and will try the backup again and post logs from this version...

          loaded up v8.1.3.8

Here are the logs on another failure for HTTYD 3D.

          ------------------------
One thing that seemed simlar to another problem I was having:
A week ago, I had created a backup of my LOTR 2D Blu-Ray.
When I burned at 6x on my Verbatum, the symptoms were that playback skipped over the NewLine Cinema High Definition video intro, and tried to go right to the main menu. It hung up on the menu background graphic, and would not display the actual menu.

On HTTYD 3D, it is skipping over the 2D Dreamworks video that plays before the menu, and tries to hit the menu. (where it hangs on a black screen)
          ------------------------
Question: The rewritable media I'm using is fine for all other 2D tests that I burn to it.. but could it be the media? It burns at a max of 2X for the RW.

If I made my HTTYD image to a .iso and burned using 1 or 2X to a normal 50GB disc, might I see different results? I'd hate to waste a $4 disc if it will end up the same way.

I'm trying right now to burn to a normal 50GB disc, and not a rewritable this time. I'm crossing my fingers it works and doesnt turn into a coaster.

I think the issue might be some kind of compatability issue between
            a) this movie
            b) the rewritable disc
            c) my samsung 3d player
            d) ?

Strike C. Its not my samsung 3d player.
The reason I can eliminate this is because I put my copied rewritable disc in another blu ray player and it failed just as bad.

            So that leaves A & B.

I found something out just now.
This original disc is able to play in 2D and 3D blu ray players.
So up until now, I never tried to test my .iso on my computer... because i figured it was only in 3D and would not play in power DVD. (My Computer is not equipped to play 3D.)

I just tried it for the heck of it, and the Power DVD breezes right into the Dreamworks screen along with the main menu.
I then looked at the box of the original, and sure enough.. it plays on 2D and 3D players.

SO... my .iso seems to work on the PC. My issue must be some kind of compatability with the media I'm using. (Thats my guess right now at least)
I've burned at 1X and 2X on my rewritable, so I know that isn't the problem.

I'm taking a deep breath right now and burning the .iso to a 50GB BD-R.
I really wanted to make sure the backup works on other media before I waste expensive discs.

My rewritables are Maxell discs. Not sure if those are known to be troublesome or not. They worked perfect to test Thor 3D and other 2D BluRays.

So my questions now are these:
            1) There is a setting in DVDFab's options that toggle on/off the ability to convert 3D to also play on 2D players. Can anyone elaborate on this setting and what it does? Does it compress anything with the 3D movies to make room for an additional 2D version on the disc? Or does it just allow you to play the disc on a 2D player, using maybe the left or right image?
It would be nice that if I used this setting, I would be able to mount the .iso into DVD fab to see if the conversion worked before burning to disc.

            2) Maxell media.. if it works for some burns, should it work for everything, or not?

Thanks for putting up with me through this.
I really want to get some of this Blu-Ray 3D stuff working.
If it woudn't have been for Thor working so easily, I may have given up on this stuff. Haven't had much luck since Thor.

The Imgburn log shows no problems at all in spite of the maxell media, which is not generally well thought of. And your drive seems to be communicating with the burn engine without any problems. I think I would try some different blank media, even though it has worked for you before. The batch you're using now may be from a completely different source. Any error messages from the player?

                Media. Media was the problem.

                My Verbatim BD-R DL 50GB 4X (burned at 2X)
                Worked perfectly.

So either the issue is the Maxell media... or some setting that needs to be tweaked to write to BD-RE DL media. (within imgburn or other...?)

                  Hi dgrams
Glad you have found the problem.
This is why we tell members to always use quality media, and stick with it.
Cheap media just is not worth the headaches.

I don't use media anymore but I purchased a while back from a retailer on eBay 50gb BDRE TDK and they have played flawlessley in every player. I think I paid 44.00 for 5 discs
