I just tried three different ones: LOTR, Karate Kid and Fletch . Fletch is the only one that worked; got the "unknown error" on the other two. Probably because Fletch was a pretty slick fellow, and probably tricked the error into thinking it wasnt one.

Any how , may i am a bit ignorant regarding the way that dvdfab works. How does the DVDfab server have anything to do with opening a bluray ??

      Server Down

Any chance that you could blast an email out to your distro list when the problem is corrected?

Im having the same problem on all 5 new blurays that i purchased today. and one of the "old" ones that i have had a problem with the sound, so i tried ripping it again, but now the movie fails to load in the same way the new ones does.

Please DVDFab tell us whats going on and when we could expect this to be up and running again.

To keep it simple, all Blu-ray discs are encrypted. The reason why each Blu ray disc needs to communicate with DVDFab's server is to decrypt the code. If it was built into the program, you would be forever having to download and install a new version every day due to the high number of Blu-ray releases. The program would also be several times bigger due to all the extra information it would need to hold. Holding the information on the server is the only practical way to do it. This way, when you load a Blu-ray it gets the information it needs straight from the server. However, when the server plays up, you get all the fun and games like everybody has had today.

Sounds like an logical explanation. have like 6 brand new blurays here and all of them get the same error. so its not like there should be "dust" on them or something like that...

Older Blu-rays will still open and process normally. It will be fixed as soon as possible, it will be posted in the Notice when it is back online. The Notice will reappear when updated even if you dismissed it.

You are welcome, sorry for the inconvenience. It should be fixed pretty quickly as soon as they get online in Beijing. It's about 7AM Monday there.
