Unable to backup Matrix: Reloaded and Transformers

I've been able to backup many blu-rays but I've come across two that are stubborn, Matrix: Reloaded and Transformers.

I have the newest version of DVDFab and I'm reading elsewhere people are able to backup these movies so I must be doing something wrong. Now as I read more on here it seems what most people are doing is simply backing up the movie only, not the rest. In general I like to get rid of a lot of the stuff but I like the extras and sometimes trailers. I understand by only backing up the movie the size is smaller and I don't have to compress as much and likely get better quality.

I have only tried to backup Transformers twice and it's giving a read error so it's possible it's a bad Blu-Ray but I don't see any scratches/smudges on it. The issue is I've tried Matrix Reloaded probably a dozen times.
It seems the problem comes with compression. I was able to do a backup of it to my hard drive using no compression and it worked fine but I don't have a dual layer blu-ray (and don't want to buy one with the prices) so couldn't burn in. The problem is when I try it with compression it fails and seems to be compression related. Now some places I'm reading people are suggesting to use imgburn which I have but the problem is it's the reading in and compression where the error is, not the burning.

After doing some reading last night I tried then just to backup the main movie. I was unsure of how to do this in DVDFab so I used another program, xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. The good news is it read it in fine and was only 17GB, much smaller than expected. I then used DVDFab to burn it to a BD-R. I was able to successfully watch it on my Samsung BD-P2500. The problem is the biggest HDTV is on my PS3 so that's my main player and when I tried to watch it there it would not load. I then tried burning a 2nd copy using imgburn but still it plays on my BD-P2500, not the PS3. It seems from reading online there are issues with the PS3 that cause some blu-rays not to work. I know for example if I read a Blu-Ray in on DVDFab and burn it on Nero it won't work. I am sure this is a settings issue.

My desire is to be able to backup the full movie but if not I'm willing to settle for just the main movie. I would mostly watch it on the PS3 though so does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Is there a way to backup the entire movie? If not, what can I do differently to make the main movie work on the PS3?

I really would like to stick with DVDFab and have used it for years. The only reason I bought it is sometime back some DVD's would not backup but [the other software] worked.
    Thanks.

You will need to post your DVDFab logs. I've backed up both of these movies in Region 1 full disc with no problems. Someone would have to view your logs to determine the issue.

The below is the log for Transformers. It used to stop working slightly into the reading of it but now it made it about halfway in and I'm compressing while reading it in.
Now it does appear this is a relatively good disc but when I looked at it tonight I do see a slight scratch in it. It does not look bad but it's possible that it is truly a read error (the error code I'm getting) and maybe it is a bad disc. I just want to mention that since with a second look I saw that tonight.
Now The Matrix: Reloaded with additional looks I see no scratches on it plus this is the 2nd Matrix: Reloaded disc I have this issue with leading me to think there is some issue with DVDFab reading it in. Here is the log for Transformers:

            Matrix Reloaded

Now that I've tried Matrix Reloaded again I saw two log files. Here is the text from them. As i said this is the 2nd Matrix Reloaded I tried to backup so I tend to think it's not a disc problem but an issue with backing up and I see no scratches or smudges. there is a small scratch on The Transformers so it's possible that's causing a problem but it's a very small scratch. Thank you for your help in advance and here are the two logs for Matrix Reloaded:

I know how you feel as I frequently find myself having to copy the full disk blu-ray and must compress it to fit on 25gb disks. I just made a backup of 3 years of my "Star Trek Original" that was remastered for HD on blu-ray. Each disk has 8 episodes (4 pair: original and remastered with HD) and on some disks compression runs just over 50%. Even with GTX570 and CUDA enabled I cannot compress this disk directly to 25gb. The disk will quickly overheat in my computer, causing the retry count to go up and eventually resulting in errors that cause DVDFab to give up on the disk. Anytime I have compression below %90 I routinely use DVDFab to clone to the hard drive and then use DVDFab to compress that image to fit on 25gb.

If, after cloning an ISO image to your hard drive, you cannot compress to 25gb then there is some setting that needs to be changed in DVDFab such as one of the codex or path player.

In regards to your comment about Nero, I routinely make ISO images and burn those with Nero. It is very rare I burn them with DVDFab directly as I save my ISO images on a file server. The only time I have ever had a problem burning with Nero is when I had DVDFab save them in that BDMV structure. Nero can complain if one of the streams is bigger than 2gb or if something seems strange in the certificate directory.

Recently, optical quantum BD-R DL are selling for under $4 USD each in 10 pacs and I used them for the TV series True Blood which had a similar compression problem as STO.
