    Is this slow normal for my HW? 36 hrs?

    Made my Captain America ISO rip to my Unraid server (actually to my laptop HDD then transfer to the Unraid. I wish I could rip straight to the Unraid but always get to the burn process and get the failed to burn message) as I always do. BD50, no compression, no issues, normal amount of time. Takes about 40 min or so for the rip to my HDD. Transfered to my Unraid and deleted. I wanted to make a BD25 disk (remove HD audio and compress to BD25), so I ripped again, (not ISO this time) to my HDD, and when I try to burn its been unbelievably slow. like 0.21 Mb/s. Im at 17.5 hrs and at 49%. Is this reasonable for the Hardware I have? I have read about resetting DMA. What is that and how do I do it? I went into the windows device manager but never saw anything that resembled "reset DMA". Do I want the lightning enable checked under A/V codec? It is. Video encoder is set to Software+CUDA. Is this right? The others are software. Basicly I am looking for suggestions, or a "yea your system is dated. Time to upgrade those times look normal for that setup".

    Dell M1530 XPS
    Core 2 Duo, T5450 1.66 GHz
    4 GB DDR2
    32 bit Vista SP2
    GeForce 8400M GS
    BD drive is Asus 12x External hooked up via USB3 Expresscard Adapter.

    Codec information below:
    Graphics Chipset :
    NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS

    CUDA Driver Version: 2.20
    CUDA Capability revision number: 1.1

    Supported Video Codecs :
    CUDA_MODE_H264
    CUDA_MODE_VC1
    CUDA_MODE_MPEG2
    DXVA_MODE_H264

    CoreAVC : cannot be detected.

    Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

    This is a little confusing... are you trying to compress and burn in one shot, or is this the time just to compress down to BD25?

      I am trying to burn but it is compressing first. It says task 1 of 2. It's been almost 19 hrs now on task 1. I assume task 2 will be the actual burn as the drive is not spun up. Thanks for the help, and sorry that I am bring confusing. I was just trying to give the entire story. Andrew

        On your hardware this is probably normal. I would turn off Cuda it won't help with your video card and turn on Lightning recording.

        I would stop the process and start again with the above settings.

        Also, I wouldn't compress and burn directly to disk. I would compress and create an ISO, mount and play the ISO in several places to make sure it's okay and what you expect, then burn the ISO to disk with ImgBurn.

        When you compress odd things can and do happen, just trying save you some not-so-cheap coasters.

          Awesome advise. Thanks. I'll give it a try.

          I also just realized I probably posted in the wrong section and I apologize. Mods please move if nec. Thanks Andrew

            Tried the advise. Changed to software only. Lightning enababled. Set to burn ISO image. BD25 HDaudio removed. Went down to a crawl of .13 MB/s and said process failed 10 min in. Any other suggestions? I guess I will try to figure out how to attach the logs.

              Just do software only, un-check Lightning.

                I apologize. I told you wrong. When I tried your first suggestion I had hit defaults and it changed to cupa and failed. I realized my mistake, tried again and fell down to my crawl of 0.19 MB/s. stopped, tried your second suggestion. Lightning unchecked I now have 1.05 MB/s. 5x faster. Thanks man!

                      3.5 hrs in I have just a little over 6 hours left. Not sure if this is going to post. For some reason all of a sudden my posts are saying something about they must be approved by a Mod

                        You are a New Member, they must always be approved before they appear in the forum. The read speeds you are seeing are abnormally slow. When I started copying Blu-rays a few years ago I had a Core 2 Duo with a USB BD drive and generally got around 3 MB/s.

                          Wow. Then I'm going to have to figure out what's going on. Took over 9 hrs. My processor was maxed out on the performance meter. Set to software the gpu is not being used at all right? We're you at 1.66 GHz? Thanks for the help

                            It's normal issue for your case. BD Compression will take a lot usage of GPU and Memory. My PC is Inter i5-2310 quad-core CPU 2.90GHz with 4Gb memory. It will take about 3 hours to do a BD50 to BD25. In the compression, The CPU usage is always above 90%.
                            Here is my advice, which may be a little for your low speed.
                            1.Go to common settings->General, click "Reset DMA";
                            2.Go to Common Settings->A/V Codec, select "Disable all GPU codecs for decoding and encoding" and unselect "Enable Lighting recoding";
                            3.Clean your system with CCleaner.
                            Wish it helps. Thanks for your support.
