Intel Quick Sync, 2500K, Z68 chipset and Lucid

so dvd fab hasn't made this for those who are running h61, h67 and z67 chipset motherboards?
Is this information correct? Can somebody please confirm this? I am running an Intel 2500K on a Z68 Chipset. It seemed to work when I first built my machine, but lately it does not work at all.

DVDFab will not even start when I have it checked in the App List for Lucid Control. I have tried three different version of the Lucid control program, and updated all of my system drivers.

DVDFab only shows my GTX 560Ti under the Hardware listing in the A/V Codec Tab. However, Intel_Mode is shown for H264 and Mpeg2, and I dod not get any errors when setting the options for "Intel Quick Sync".

When I try to run the Quick Sync options, the encoding process just runs for hours and hours and never seems to get past 3% (or less).

Is anybody else having these problems? any solutions?

    RedJamaX,

I also have the Intel 2500K and M/B Z68A-D3-B3, I think your M/B has to support or it won't show up in Fabs A/V codecs!

If it does show up thats another story!

Is there APPs for Intel Quick Sync, Lucid Control for M/B ?

Do you mean the lucid app? Yes, the software was shipped with the board. My understanding is that you only have to identify certain applications when the Lucid software cannot Auto-Detect the necessary driver switching.

I have mine configured for D-Mode (PCI-E graphics as primary), but the Intel Quick Sync Codec options do show up in the DVDFab application settings, and I can select those settings with out an error. Also, I can see that during the copy process the message is displayed indicating "Intel Quick Sync encoding has been enabled"

So I "assume" that mean it is working as it is supposed to, but I have had so mnay problems lately, I wanted to check to make sure... and to see if anybody else with a similar config is having the same problems? Does not seem to be tied to any certain movie either.. I've have been getting bargain BluRay movies bcause they are older ones which nobody else has "ever" reported problems with...

Post a DVDFab internal log session so we can see what is going on.

          here are three logs...

this is from when I tried to backupo Apollo 13, finally just had to switch to CUDA encoding...

          why didn't Quick Sync work?

Intel Quick Sync shows up in my FAB A/V codec also, but if I click on it, it says my Vedio Card doesn't support it!

Is it faster than CUDA? When it works! Is it still something your M/B supports?, or does it depend on your Vedio Card? (Evga Geforce GTX 460 OC)

8855A; you need a CPU that supports QS.

QS is way faster than software and faster than my GTS450.

As far as the newest GeForce 6 series cards are concerned, I have no idea.

Anyone have both that could do a speed comparison?

QS on my Core i5 2500K is equal (within a few minutes one way or the other) when compared to CUDA on my GTX 560Ti.

It's safe say then that the GeForce 6 series would be quicker than the i5-2500K.

The i7-3770K would be a whole different ball game though.

                    Thanks MARTYTHEBRIT,

For explaining that, but the times posted for speeds, I'm getting about the same! 45-50 mins re-encode, 35 mins or less for just Blu-rays using just Cuda and Cuda+Software!

Have to check into some new CPU's!, but for the money is the i7 that much faster than the i5? Just curious!

Not worth the extra money based on the benchmarks I was seeing when I looked around before getting the 2500k...

Go to Tomshardware.com and lookup the "Charts" for CPUs

RedJamax ... install the older version Lucid Virtu 1.2.112 ... that version still works. If you use 1.2.113 or 1.2.114 DVDFab wont even startup most of the time.

You may have to re-add DVDFAB.exe and FabCore.exe to Lucid's application list and shutdown DVDFab and restart it. Then you should have ALL options available in the codecs screen.

However I only every tried up to DVDFav 8.1.9.6. Not sure if 8.2.xxxx at all will work.

I've got an Asrock Z68 mobo and CUDA for decode/encode (using my GTX 580) is by far the quickest to encode a BDISO file to MKV (about 18 minutes), but the quality is noticeable poor on scenes with high frames. The next fastest is Intel QuickSync to decode and software to encode ... this gives about 40 minute encoding times but perfect 100% quality at the original resolution. After that software to decode and software to encode, but its a little slower. Interestingly, using Intel QuickSync to encode still gives good quality, but takes around 2 hours to create the file.
