I searched for others that had this problem here is what one solution was.
You should be able to use the free version, but one or two others have reported this problem with v8.x. Use the DVDFab uninstaller (Start->All Programs->DVDFab 8->Uninstall DVDFab 8) and then reboot your PC. Then reinstall, making sure to Run As...Administrator when you start the installer.

i think i know what went wrong...when i use blu ray copy to copy the 3d titanic even though it said 3d copy as an option when it copied it only came out as 2d... which is why the option for side by side etc didn't come up when i tried to use the copy on my hard drive.
i have found that if you use clone it will do an exact copy to hard disc.
only problem i have now is how to get that down to 25gb as its nearly 50gb without losing the original 3d.
i think i could do it side by side but wanted an exact copy but shrunk down to 25gb...wish there was a dvd shrink for blu ray!!!! any ideas

Fab does shrink 50 gig blu-ray and blu-ray 3d full copy or main movie to(FULL 3D) 25 gig that's what you want but then you said your 30 day trial expired in 1 day.So first you need to get that fixed or buy the program.
Then as i told you you can have a 25 gig 3d or regular blu ray full disk or main movie and you can have a 25 gig side by side also or reduced to a dvd9 or 5.
We don't know if your media player will do side by side but i know it won't do 25 gig or 50 gig 3d.So you need to get a media player that plays 3d some play 3d iso's some play 3d folders some do both.
Reducing 50 gig 3d to 25 gig 3d does you no good as your media player won't play it,If you decided to make 25 gig disks then your talking different from what you told me you wanted. We don't even know if your media player can play side by side yet.Even if it does it may not be able to play from the disks menu in 3d you may only be able to play the main movie in 3d.
Please make clear what it is you are wanting to do as my psychic quit last week.Last edited by glenns; 03-05-2013, 02:19 AM.

sorry.
First of all i took your advice , deleted dvd fab from my p c and downloaded it again, bingo my trial is back and working. i have the latest dvdfab9 and dvdfab 8qt
After having all the problems with the media player I thought the easiest thing would be to go out and buy a blu ray writer and some blank blu ray discs.
I now have a writer and some 25gb discs i didn't get the 50gb ones as they are so expensive.
It would have been easier to get the 50gb I see that now, but hopefully there is a way to shrink the files.
As I was trying to explain, (but not very well) I thought the easiest way after reading posts would be to use clone on the dvdfab 8 as that seems keeps the original 3d files.
My problem is how to shrink them to 25GB without losing the original 3d files.
Oh, and what's the best way to put them onto disc do you use the fab burner or img does that do blu ray disc's?
Really sorry i didn't explain properly, after reading the post I can see the massive problem you faced trying to sort out what i was on about.Last edited by mrbasilbrush; 03-05-2013, 10:13 AM.

Ok I will assume you have a 3d blu-ray player to play the 3d disks on if you don't then you have to have a 3d software player to play them in 3d.If you only have a regular blu ray player then you need to make a side by side 3d movie.I do hope your blank disks are not memorex or ritec blanks they are real cheap and a lot of burners have trouble burning them.
How to make a 3d disk.
First make sure Fab burning engine is selected in Fabs software settings.
Download vitural drive from fabs front page
Second-Take store brought 3d blu-ray make sure its clean no fingerprints, dust dirt or scratches this is a important step so clean disk even if it looks clean.
Third-Put store brought disk in burner and clone disk to hard drive using blu-ray copy select clone or burn in version 9.This makes a 50 gig exact copy minus the copy protection and is put in Fabs folder named clone.
Forth-Take this file and load in virtual drive and select Blu-ray copy You can make a 50 or a 25 gig full disk, main movie full 3d or side by side (Data file in 3d).The full disk includes everything on disk, the main movie is just the main movie both can be made in full 3d meaning 1080p in each eye the same as the store brought disk is.
The side by side is not a blu-ray but 1080 in one eye with the other eye less resolution. They can be put on blu-ray disks(25 gigs) or compressed and put on single or 2 layer regular dvds at 1080p or less resolutions.
Advantage is you don't need a 3d blu-ray player to play a side by side movie just need a 3d tv or 3d monitor and a regular blu ray player for 25 gig disks or if compressing to less than 25 gig with blu-ray main movie then a regular dvd player can play side by side 3d if it supports the format.Newer one's may.
I think all blu-ray players will support side by side.Your 3d tv must also support side by side most do..If you make just the main movie you can compress side by side to any size disk or any resolution. The 3d effects are the same. They also look great even compressed to 8.5 gig 2 layer disks on a large screen tv.Your pushing it on 4.5 gig regular dvd's but it can be done it is highly compressed maybe kids won't know the difference.
Now at the bottom of the page there's a small box that says 50 gig that's the default setting and is a drop down box when clicked here you select 25 gigs if you want a 25 gig disk. This is for full disk full 3d.Hit start and several hours later fab makes and burns a 3d movie for you.
For main movie full 3d you select this first in blu-ray copy then you can take out sound tracks you don't want and choice which subtitles you want to copy or don't select any if you don't want any then check the 25 gig box on the bottom of page and hit next it brings you to the 3d page their 3d is already selected for you this will make a full 3d disk.Just make sure that little box at the bottom of the page that 25 gig is selected if not you get a 50 gig copy uncompressed. If you want a side by side you select it here instead of the pre checked full 3d copy.
Now put a blank 25 gig in your burner drive fab will take it from here and compress the movie and do the burn for you if the disk is in the drive. If you don't have the disk in the drive the disk can be burned later by putting the new made 22-24 gig compressed 3d folder (that should be in full disk or main movie folders in the Fab program files)load it in virtual drive and select write data or burn in version 9 and burn the disk always make sure you do this with Fabs burning engine that gets set in software before you even make the 50 gig iso from the store brought disk or you won't get a 3d disk Fabs burning engine burns the 3d files on the disk.
Img burn can do this only if you made a 25gig iso during the compression stage so only if you made a 25 gig ISO can you use img burn to do the burn.
It's better to compress and burn in the Fab program all at once. When you start going to other programs to do the burn they may have higher burn speeds that's a bad thing burning the disk too fast Leeds to a lot of problems and reason it won't play in other players. When setting burn speed set to auto or one half disk speed to make a disk that plays well on other players.
Fabs program files is where the log files are under log, their Fab records each step of the process in case something goes wrong if so you can cut and paste the log file for the movie you just done and put it in a post so staff or user's can look at them to see if their are errors or fab bugs to be fixed it's a great help when something goes wrong. The newest made file is the last one at the bottom all files for all disks made are here unless you delete them.If using img burn to burn a 3d iso they also have a log file should something go wrong post its log file.
Their is another file called the burn log this file tells a lot about the burner you used we can check to see if your burner software is out of date or if your burn speed is set to high and other things so also include a burn log when something goes wrong with burning a 3d disk like no 3d etc.Again cut and past only the part of the file that you had trouble with the newest movie done is the top log in this case.Their dated also to make them easy to find.
Sounds hard but its like riding a bike after you get the hang of it.When done their are two copy's of the same movie in Fab folders the 50 gig iso and the 25 gig compressed movie you just made. They will still be their so you can make another copy or delete them.Their in two different folders

How long to shrink from 50 gigs to 25 gigs depends on how long the movie is and how powerful your computer is.Because we cannot use cuda or other software to speed up the conversion process with a 3d movie it can take a long time with a older computer.
For example I have a 2 core computer it takes me the better part of a day to do the conversion about 12-15 hours depending on the length of the 3d movie.Others with 4-8 core computers can do it much faster. If your using a real old computer with 1 core then this stuff is not for you trans coding with less than a 2 core computer will take forever and its time to update your computer 4 core minimum with a good graphics card if i was looking for a newer computer with 6-8 core being ideal for this kind of work.
To make a side by side 3d is much faster 3.5 hours with my computer and much less with more powerful computers maybe even a hour that's because side by side is a regular data format and cuda or other software may be used to speed things up.
Of cause this process can be avoided if you use 50 gig disks or want to leave the movie in 50 gig form and just use a 3d media player that you can buy for about $140.00 or so.You can also get a external hard drive 3t for about $170.00 and use it to put all your 3d or blu rays on.In the long run it's cheaper than disks and Cinava makes it impossible to make a disk of any Fox movie,Media players play cinava movies fine.
I make side by side 3d movies and compress to 8.5-9 gig size takes about 3.5 hours each on my computer this way i am able to collect hundreds of 3d movie made on 1 3t hard drive and i still have 1 t left for more. The choice is yours to make but for me a 3d media player and a 3t or even 4t plug in hard drive is a no brain er and very cost effective in the long run and can easily be brought to a friends house or travel with as the media player and hard drive together is like a book small enough to bring with you anywhere.Last edited by glenns; 03-05-2013, 11:07 PM.

do you think its worth getting a new media player , it would proberly work out cheaper in the long run. i could keep the one one i already have for dvds.
ps i managed to covert a dvd using dvd ripper side by side 3d into wmv that works ok in the media player. quality not that great though.
ps what media player would you recomend
thanks again for all your help, you have been very patient and i'm getting there slowly .

My media player is the Micca ep600g2 that plays everything I can throw at it in every format including hd sound and 3d in folder or iso form.
It now has a lower $119.95 cost with free economy shipping http://www.miccastore.com/micca-ep60...ayer-p-78.html check it out.Amazon sells it for the same price.
Their are a lot of media players out their now i can only tell you about the one i have i am very happy with.Your 2t drive will plug in it and play from it.Theirs no included drive with this player. It streams and has a internet browser also. You can plug two external drives in its ubs inputs. You can connect it to your tv with hdmi or stream to the tv.Their are apps you can stream from also.
Yes without any hesitating i will tell you its going to be a great addition to your system and you can keep dvds,blu-rays 3d blu-rays and reduced to side by side 3d all on the same 2t drive you have now. It's nice to have everything in 1 place.
Fabs made copys full 3d or reduced to 25 gig full 3d and anything else you make with fab works fine. The media player has a very powerful audio/video processor Realtek RTD1186 one of the best on the market its very fast and plays everything i tried so far.Plus you won't worry about the Fox movies because media players are not effected by cinavia copy protection.Last edited by glenns; 03-06-2013, 10:00 PM.
