    DVDFab v9.0.5.5 Error Reading Discs?

I really don't know what to make of this, I tried a fourth copy of "Scent Of A Woman" and this time I had different results and a different problem. The copy said it completed with no errors however this is a directory list of the stream folder:
    Code:
     Directory of I:\Temp\Scent Of A Woman\BDMV\STREAM

    07/29/2013 02:05 PM <DIR> .

    07/27/2013 12:33 AM 1,093,632 00033.m2ts
    07/27/2013 12:34 AM 80,510,976 00105.m2ts
You can see the only file of any significant size is 00023.m2ts and that file represents 17 minutes and 26 seconds of the beginning of the movie and the rest is missing even though the copy said successful.

I'm sorry to say that I ran this one right back to the store and then promptly lost the log file. I've ordered a fifth one from a different source and I'm waiting for it to arrive.

I also had no problem with Avatar 3d and the The Incredibles" dvd however these were made with earlier versions of Fab when the disks first came out so if its a resent Fab problem one would have to make new iso's.

I don't think it's a Fab problem because of the evidence at had we have two user's complaining out of almost 35 thousand Fab members and the user complaining about his Star war's disks after asking for him to post log files has not.

Also the fact the topic starter made blu rays after and before these disks without problems so based by the facts on hand i come to conclude after testing with vso inspector that the disks are bad full of read errors also because the number of copy's of disks used and different drives used that a drive problem is unlikely making other blu rays with the same drives confirms this.

Because the user used 3-4 disks of the same movie and had problems with new and used copy's seems that a bad run of disks is likely in this case as the evidence at hand seems to point to because the user was able to make other blu rays ok seems that Fab is ok and his equipment is ok this leaves only the disks that can be bad.

In the cases where I have the discs reported with read errors, I can't duplicate it. For instance all 6 of the Star Wars BDs open with no errors. A tiny almost invisible scratch on a Blu-ray can cause problems. In the case where the same disc produced errors in different places when tried on two PCs, the errors were in roughly the same area of the disc according to the log.

    DVDFab v9.0.5.5 Error Reading Discs?

In the case of "Scent Of A Woman" the first one was used and I gave it back to the guy since it wouldn't work in any of my drives. The second one is from Walmart.

In the case of "The Incredibles" one was from a local mall store, the second was used and two were from Amazon.

I am not using LogMeIn to work with Fab, I only use it rarely when I need something from one of my computers and I'm not home. In every instance I've reported here I've been physically on the computer in question.

I'll give VLC a try and see what happens; I've also ordered a new BDR-208DBK from Amazon along with a new lens cleaning disk so we'll see what happens. It's going to take a few days to return the disk and maybe order a new one from Amazon but I'll post back when I have something more.

Sometimes buying disks on eBay is risky some are counterfeits If I was you I would buy the disks from a reliable source such as Amazon,Wall mart or Best buy.Where did you buy the 2 disks your having trouble with? are they used?

Are you using log me in to access Fab ,use Fab over a web browser doing converting work or using Fab to decode disks over a web browser from a remote location as your log seems to report that's what you were doing so here's what I recommend:

Use fab only from a computer your with as Fab needs to use the web to decode disks and if your already using the web to use your computer from a remote location this will reduce bandwidth and may cause these read errors.Fab connects to the internet every time you use it to check to see if you have a active account before it allows you to use it.Streaming can also causes errors.

Here is a link for a good free software player VLC player http://sourceforge.net/projects/vlc/ As with all software downloads make sure you don't download any junk with it.This is a good software player a lot of us use.
Please tell us if the disks your having trouble with play on it and if they play on your media player if they don't your not going to be able to copy them.Don't stream from a remote location use with a computer in your presents.

That's really odd since I bought the 207M from Amazon and it came in a regular box not a white box OEM drive. I did download the correct file and as Gummigutta had suggested I used WinRar to extract the files rather than the self extractor and I did get the same files that he indicated that he got when he extracted them. However when I ran the BR207.exe it said something like "No drives detected" so it must not be the correct firmware for this drive. There was some talk about the 207M drive here: http://club.myce.com/f87/applying-pr...r-207m-330636/ and how different 207 models may use a different kernal and that there's no 1.30 update for this particular model which as I've discovered has firmware 1.21. There was a post by someone here http://club.myce.com/f61/post-new-fi...5/index11.html giving a link to a supposed 1.30 firmware for the 207M but it goes to some bogus commercial download site and when you put in the captcha my anti-virus goes crazy warning that it's malicious so no help there.

If this is a fab problem many others would be complaining. If you use the iso inspector program as Cbr-929 told you and you still have read errors i would say its a defective disk or scratched disk it seems its happening at the start of the main movie.Because you have 3 different drives and used 3 copy's of the same disk this leads me to ask if your using store brought disks as not many people have 3 copy's of a blu ray around.Anyway if you keep returning the bad disk for a new disk and it keeps happening it appears like a bad run of disks if this is a store brought disk (3 copy's).

    Doe's the disk play ok?
As CBR929 suggested, I didn't have a software Blu-Ray player hence I use Fab to remove the protection so I can play them with a regular media player or stream them to my TV (or convert them to watch on my iPad) but I downloaded and installed the trial of the DVDFab Media Player and the disc will actually start to play but somewhere around 11% the player stops and becomes unresponsive and I can't skip over that section to a later chapter as the player again becomes unresponsive. I tried starting the movie and pausing and then running VSO Inspector and this was the results up until I canceled it:
    Code:

This is only the second "Scent Of A Woman" disc that I tried, it was "The Incredibles" that I gave up after four discs in a row on all three drives had read errors. (I spent more on postage sending the discs back than I did on the disc itself) There have been several posts in the forums here about people having assorted problems with Disney /Pixar movies but they were several years ago and it was mentioned that some people had these disc read issues while other people posted that they could copy without a problem.

LogMeIn is a service like GotoMyPC and it lets me access my computers from remote locations via a web browser. I generally am on top of driver updates and keep my chipset and graphics drivers fairly up to date. I'm not discounting a dirty lens but I've done other Blu-Ray copy's this week and didn't have an issue with other discs. My house is no more clean or dirty and dusty than anyone elses but I'll try a lens cleaner and see what happens.

It's going to take me some time to send this disc back and get a replacement or I'll just try and buy another new one from eBay and see what happens.

If you extract the downloaded file with a program such as 7-zip.org you get these files:

Total files size: 3 MB; 2883 KB; 2952048 Bytes
That extracted .exe installer is in pure English. Could be that the downloaded file needs a Japaneese language pack/code pack in Windows to show up Japaneese characters correctly.

Sauanan:Post your internal log files for the disks with the read errors. But first try them with the latest fab release as their were a lot of fixes in it.This means make new iso's to your hard drive ok.
Are they clean and free of deep scratches? You can also download Vso inspector and follow the directions crb929 left and do a scan of the disks you have trouble with. This will tell you if it's Fab or the disk is bad.

The M model of this drive is a overseas version.Pioneer has no firmware on their internet sight for the M model. The sight you used i also always use and never had a Rar file yet.I do have to ask if you downloaded the correct file should be the 4th one down says General before the model number.

I noticed this in your log: Graphics info: LogMeIn Mirror Driver :What is this and what does it do? Are your windows drivers up to date? Could their be dirt on your laser lens as this will cause read error's use a disk cleaner this is a shot in the dark because you have 3 drives unless they are used in dusty conditions chances all 3 drives being dirty is slim.

The best overall way to troubleshot this is try a different disk one that you know is new or in real good condition then try Fab again and see what happens.

I am having the same problem with Bluray and 3D. Two of the three Star Wars - V & VII - had disk read errors and Avatar 3D same problem. Phantom and Star Wars VI copied fine.

Seems strange that it would be a burner/reader problem when some work and others don't. I get the "read" error on both my reader and burner drives?

    Hi Norm@Home
That is strange that it is a rar file, I always get my firmware updates from that site and I trust them, I even tried to open the file and got the same picture as in your screen shot.
I also use VSO Inspector for DVDs.
The problem is that you have to remove the protection first before using it, or you will have all kinds of errors.
What I do is play the movie in your soft player on your computer, while the movie itself is playing pause it, but do not exit out of the player.
Now start VSO Inspector and run the scan to see if you have different results.

In the mean time, GlenS had suggested that I test the disc with VSO inspector which I actually already had installed on the computer with the BDR-207M drive and here are the results for the amount of time I let it run: (BTW the whole log was over 43000 characters so I had to shorten it somewhat to get it to fit)

    Hi Norm@Home
Maybe try updating your drives firmware which can be found here for your Pioneer BDR-207M
NOTE If you do not know how to flash your drive do not do it, it will render your drive useless and you take full responsibility for doing so.

    Hope this helps

Download VSO inspector from the internet a free program that will do a surface scan and tell you if its the disk it will report all reading errors and if it's a bad disk.Be careful you don't download other junk with it.I believe path player is for regular dvd's not blu rays.Path player should be on for regular dvd's unless theirs a problem with one then turn it off for the problem dvd only then turn it back on.
