    Mastermind jb:
Just download this free program then you can use the U.S. version to decode blu rays you only need to run the program once it hides somewhere that's it (when you update fab you don't need to update it) then restart computer http://www.woookao.cn/

Another idea I had if fab protected disk doesn't work you can make a iso with img burn a free burner program you can get on the internet with all protection on but a warning message will come up saying the disk may not work do you want to make it anyway check yes and try. This will make a disk a different way than fabs protected disk but also may not work just a idea. The mods.90312 idea seems good if you don't mind a non blu ray copy and have that modual or the 30 day trial version still I would try the Fab protected disk first it will work with the Woookao program.

I have AnyDVD so the decoding part isn't an issue, but it removes the AACS protection which is what prevents the XB1 from reading the disc. If the bd-r isn't "mastered", XB1's won't play them. I'll try the imgburn thing, hopefully I won't make an expensive coaster lol.

I would turn Anydvd off and download and install the woookao program then make the protected disk with fab.You don't need anydvd anymore if the woookao program is installed this way the copy protection can be restored by fab using the protected disk.In any case don't have both anydvd on and woookao on at the same time.I was thinking you had a rewritable disk to test this on.The img burn protected disk is a shot in the dark both may not work but there is no one that ever posted the results that I can find so your results may be used by others if it works or not so we know one way or the other as Fab has a searchable data base.
You can't use anydvd to take out the protection as a protected disk has to have a way to put the copy protection back in the Woookao program will work with fab to do this were as anydvd won't.

Their are also 2 different copy protected disks you can make with fab the old way for the old play stations and the new way using clone and putting the copy protection back in these two ways differ slightly so both can be tried if you wanted to test this.I always keep a 50 gig rewritable disk for testing their not that expensive compared making coasters.

I just picked up a 50g rewritable for that exact reason, I'm trying it your way and I'll let you know.

Well... after trying many different combinations, I am still unsuccessful in getting the XB1 to play any burned blu-rays. I've used DVDFab, AnyDVD, Woookao, imgburn, even some other blu-ray burning software, but nothing seems to work. I have successfully been able to save the protected ISO (I believe so anyway), but getting that to translate onto a disc is where I believe I'm stumbling. While the burning to a DVD-r is a viable option, I want to ensure maximum quality of my backups and use all those BD-R's I bought haha.

Here's to hoping a solution is found!!

Thank you all who have attempted to help.

I knew before the Xbox One came out that they would block playing BD-Rs. This is one of the main reasons I went with the PS4. However, since I use an HTPC to play my movies now, it really doesn't matter as I haven't burned discs for my usage in over 2 years.

Mastermindjb:Here is the steps to make a protected disk with fab:

                1) Start DVDFab and insert the disc you want to back up.
                2) Select Clone copy mode in Blu-ray Copy.
                3) Click on the ISO output box near the bottom of the DVDFab window to let it know you want to write to HDD.
                4) A checkbox will appear that says "Keep Protection", put a checkmark here.
                5) Click Start.

The disk is said to only be playable in Fab media player but you can try this now that you have the 50 gig rewritable disk.
Were you able to get a disk with copy protection made with imgburn so you can try it? as if you were as i was you can put it back in fab and see Fab take the protection back off the disk this way you know its made with the protection back on the disk. Both a shot in the dark for playing on the xbox one but then we will know if it doesn't work.

The other protected disk I was talking about also made with fab is only if cinavia is on the disk then it gives you a choice in advanced settings to make a protected copy to play on the old play stations and some other players this does this in a slightly different way also a shot in the dark.

Only way I know for sure to make this work is like the moderator said use Fab blu ray to dvd on a -r disk.Fab is working on this so their could be a solution in the future.

I attempted to perform the backup just as you described it above in your list. The only thing I did not do is check and see if DVDFab attempted to remove the protections after the disc was already burned. Unless something failed along the way I am unaware of, this method is a 'no go'. I haven't come across a personal disc with Cinavia just yet, and that check box is greyed out if it doesn't (as I'm sure you are already well aware.) I'm not at home this weekend, took the kids skiing. I'll try it again when I get back. Once again, thank you for all the input.
