    DVD Fab won't burn

I'm new to burning Blue Rays and have not been able to get DVD Fab Blue Ray to work for me.

I have two computers. One with Windows XP and Service Pack 3, and the other with Vista. I can't get DVD Fab Blue Ray to work on either.

I've had DVD Fab for years for burning DVDs an it's been great. Thus why I chose DVD Fab for Blue Ray. All headaches so far. I must be missing something somewhere.

#1 - I was quite surprised to find out after buying DVD Fab Blue Ray that it does no decryption. So first thing I had to do is buy AnyDVD HD.

#2 - With AnyDVD HD having the decryption done, DVD Fab Blue Ray sees the disc and starts to copy it. Somewhere along the way it stops. This happened first on the old computer with Windows XP. I then installed ImageBurn for free and that program worked great. Burned my first Blue Ray, 23 GB to a 25 GB disc.

#3 - Next movie I wanted to try is 46 GB and all I have is 25 GB discs. ImageBurn does not compress (that I know of). That's one of the reasons I paid for DVD Fab Blue Ray. So I moved all the software to my newer computer. DVD Fab Blue Ray still will not work. It starts the job and gets stuck somewhere along the line. I've included the end of one error log.

You need to post the complete DVDFab internal log for the failed attempt.

        A new try . .

I tried to include the complete log here. Too many lines and this forum software would not allow it.

I tried again in a different way. Last time when the process failed, I tried to use DVD Fab Blue Ray Copy to read the unencryptyed disc and then write it.

On this new attempt -I copied and decrypted the Blue Ray and put it on my hard drive as an ISO file. I then tried to use DVD Fab Blue Ray Copy to use that ISO file that is around 45 GB and compress it to write it to a 25 GB disc. So far the computer run time is one hour and 15 minutes and DVD Fab says it is only 2% completed. At that rate, it's doubtful it is going to work. 2% over an hour? At that rate, it will take 50 hours to do one movie? What the heck is going on here? Right now - it says "copy process" started, and it's at "video reencode bitrate 18137 KBPS." I 'm going to let it run a little longer and then shut it down. I'm assuming it can't be the computer. ImgBurn works fine for reading and burning Blue Rays on the same machine. It just can't compress a 47 GB movie onto a 25 GB disc. If this thing fails before I shut it down, I will post the log even if it takes two posts to fit it all in.

The log saves all attempts and you don't need to attach them all. Scroll down to the last log entry for the failed attempt and cut and paste or save as a txt file in note pad and attach.

See and follow 90312's instructions for the log file. Attach it as a file instead of trying to paste it as text. Blu-ray compression seems to be working fine for everyone else so it sounds like something in your PC hardware or software environment.

I've used DVD Fab for years and service has always been excellent - until now.
              I have lifetime subscriptions.

I've tried for a week just to register with this forum. I was not allowed to register and kept getting a message stating to "contact administrator and my email address is banned." Almost a week after I first asked for help, I got a reply stating that it's "just a VPN issue" and they registered for me. So that took a week.

Now that I've finally been enabled to register - I'm seeking help since my "new" DVD Fab Blue Ray has not yet worked for me at all.

I tried to leave my computer running longer today. I tried to use an unencrypgted ISO file and burn it to a disc. 47 GB to be compressed and written to a 25 GB disc. After 6 1/2 hours of run time it said it was only 15% completed - so I gave up.

I then got this advice from DVD Fab tech (in quotes).

"Please go to Common Settings window change the CPU cores under General tab to have a try. Say original set as 8, then you change it to 4.
Any questions in future, please feel free to contact us.

Sincerely yours, Mona Su, DVDFab Service Team"

I don't understand. If I open up DVD Fab and go "common settings", and go to "CPU cores" it is set at 1. The DVD Fab program does not let me change that number from 1 and there are no options in the drag-down box. The CPU in this computer is Pentium P4, 3 GHz processor. If they say I need to change that number - how do I do it?

Here's the end of the last log that I shut down after 6 1/2 hours.

                Hi DemarraisJ
With a Pentium P4 3GHz processor I would not expect much for compressing Blu-Rays, it just does not have the power. DVD's should not prove to be bad but, you must realize that Blu-Rays will be out of the question, there is just too much data to crunch for this outdated processor.

A new try and new failed burn

If none of my computers are fast enough to run DVD Fab Blue Ray copy - then why isn't that mentioned in "system requirements?"

The product description states the minimum processor needed is a Pentium II running at 500 MHz. I have a lot more CPU power then that.

I switched over to my newer computer. Vista operation system. Processor is an AMD Athlon II X2 255, 3.10 GHz, 2 GB RAM.

I tried to use DVD Fab Blue Ray Copy with an unencrypted ISO file, 47 GBs large. I set DVD Fab Blue Ray for "movie only" and to copy to a 25 GB disc. It said it would compress at 69%. Fine. I ran it. Took a few hours and then said it was done with a "perfect burn" according to DVD Fab. Problem is the 25 GB disc is only half full and has only 12.9 GBs of data on it.

So now what? What the heck is wrong here. I have not been able to get DVD Fab to work for me even once yet and have now tried two different computers. Here's the log from the last burn that supposedly made a "perfect copy" but did not.

                    What is your disc name?
Is it compress in lower speed if you burn to BD 25?
If you can post the complete DVDFab internal log for the failed attempt maybe help.
Use additional options -> Manage Attachments button, upload internal log and burn log.
