    Trial Version still showing

    Hi,

This morning I purchased DVDFab Bluray Copy. I was under the impression it copies bluray to dvd disks ... Why is it then, this evening when I want to copy a bluray to dvd disk, it shows Trial Version?

I mean, it shows my software has been activated when DVDFab is starting up, but once the program is fully open and its at the screen showing all the titles on the disk, when I choose Bluray to DVD option, on that screen it then goes to, it shows as being Trial Version. Why?

Welcome. Blu-ray Copy will compress a Blu-ray movie onto a DVD-type disc (this is called a BD-5 or BD-9), but it will not be playable on a DVD-only player. To do that, you need the module called Blu-ray to DVD, which is sold as an accessory. It will create a DVD-playable disc from any Blu-ray.

So why does it state, in several places on your website, that Blu-Ray Copy will copy to DVD discs?

Copy Blu-ray to any blank Blu-ray/DVD/AVCHD disc

Burn to any blank Blu-ray/DVD/AVCHD disc
DVDFab Blu-ray Copy can burn your Blu-ray movie to any blank Blu-ray disc like BD-R 25, BD-RE 25, BD-R 50 and BD-RE 50. A notable feature of Blu-ray Copy is that it can burn Blu-ray to any blank DVD disc like DVD+R/RW, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R DL and DVD-R DL to save money or if no Blu-ray disc is available at hand or you prefer high cost-performance DVD backup.

If that isn't misleading I don't know what is!

And where do I get a BD5 or BD9 disc from?

Basically, I have spent $76 dollars on software that doesn't do half of what it is supposed to do due to the utter misleadingness of the website? In the western world, that is called false advertising.

Cool off. A BD-5 is a DVD-5 disc (single layer), a BD-9 is a DVD-9 dual layer and as I stated, Blu-ray Copy will write to these discs. A Blu-ray player will play them, a DVD-only player will not. Details of all this are available here or on the Fab website before purchase, so I don't think you could call it misleading at all, possibly mis-informed.

I'm not getting hot. But I was under the impression, from the website, that BluRay Copy would copy to a dvd disc as a dvd.

That is what it says. Or is, at least, insinuating.

The English language can make it tough when it comes to describing stuff. In this particular case, you were reading too much into the description. The feature is Blu-ray copy, not Blu-ray conversion. The format of the Blu-ray disc can be copied to basically four different pieces of media: BD50 (dual layer), BD25 (single layer), DVD9 (dual layer) and DVD5 (single layer).

The info clearly states DVD media. What you are thinking about is DVD-Video, which is a particular type of formatting on DVD media. That requires re-authoring the Blu-ray authored content into DVD-Video authored content. That is the other module.

Yes, it can seem a little misleading, especially if the nature of DVD-Video is not fully comprehended. But, that said, it would be advantageous if DVDFab would clearly state in the Web info for the Blu-ray copy module that it does not convert BD-Video into DVD-Video and to do that requires the other module. That would eliminate the confusion.

              Thank you, MrVideo.

I agree with everything you said, especially the part about clarification of the dvd media and dvd video. When one thinks of dvd disc (as the site states it copies to) one automatically thinks of dvd video, so that is where my confusion lay.

I also thought the difference between Bluray Copy software and Bluray to DVD Converter software was that the latter only converted Blurays to DVD, and that the former did that too - but ALSO copied Blurays to Blurays.

I think DVDFab needs to keep its word and let me have the Bluray to DVD Converter ...

This is unlikely to happen. A DVD disc is a type of MEDIA. DVD-Video is an industry standard that describes the structure and contents that can be put on a DVD disc to play back on a DVD player. Do not raise this issue again. You have had clear and unambiguous responses from others and from me. Your thread is closed.
