    Copy process started (Read speed)

When I go to start a copy the bluray only seems to read at approx 1-3MBs, so it's taking ages. Just wondering if there is something wrong or if this is what everyone puts up with?
    I'm using a Pioneer BDR-205 1.04

    Thanks

There is nothing wrong unless your drives have reverted to PIO mode.

Computer specs mean a lot when doing Blu-Ray.
Even if it's a little thing, do something for those who have need of help, something for which you get no pay but the privilege of doing it.

Hummm ok, I'm running a Intel i7 3.0 with 6GB Ram and a 512mb graphics card (not sure if that makes a difference).
Is there any way of checking if the drive has reverted to PIO?
I can burn a 23GB file in about 12 mins and drag files off the drive just as fast. I'd expect it to take 20 mins max!
Originally I was using the trial software and thought it was just the software restricting it, so I bought a full copy. Just a bit annoyed that it takes so long!
I used to have DVDfab 3.X for DVD's and it flew along on my old computer.

Your computer specs are good, remember Blu-Ray has a lot more information compared to DVDs.
To reset DMA in Fab, go to
        Common Settings > General
click on the Reset DMA tab
You can also check if they are by going into device manager IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers click IDE controllers advanced settings and check for DMA if they are IDE.
For Sata in the same folder IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers Serial ATA controllers click the port that has your drive on it and also check your DMA status.

Thanks for that, going to give that a go now!
I've just had a look at the settings for DVD/Blu-ray read, and the I/O mode is on Auto. There is a choice of ASPI or APTI, would changing this speed things up?
Also, my read-ahead cache is enabled.
I did play with the Blu-ray reading mode but i've put that back now to Internal (UDF 2.50 Parser + I/O. Didn't seem to change anything.

OK, well I've tried that and it hasn't worked.....
It's doing the same, 1-3MBs, 4 hours + to do a backup. CPU is sitting at about 35-50%.
I've tried a few different discs now, some old, some new, it seems to read a bit, then stop and so on. Strange!
I can do a DVD extremely quickly, just not Blu-ray!

This is not abnormal, especially if you are compressing a Blu-ray. Some BD drives read faster than others also.

How long are others taking when doing a blu-ray to blu-ray? Main movie only?
The drive reads at 8x, twice as fast as I was burning a disc yesterday that took 12 mins to burn 23GB. Why would a BD drive only read at 1-3mbs? Thats slower than when playing the film at 1x speed.

slammed mine is the same way, if there is no compression needed it takes like 15-20 min, if there is compression it takes about 2-3 hours, i have a q6600 at 3.4, i have the same burner also

save the completed output folder, then u can reburn over and over and it will take about 10 min to burn at 10x

Thanks, just expect it to be a little faster.... O well.
What discs are you using to burn at 10x? where are you getting them from?
                    Thanks

                      Are you compressing?
with out compressing speed will start slower and get fasters as it runs for me.
I will peek at about 25mb.
