    Color Video Distortion older movies

I have been getting some video distortion regarding the color in some older movies. I just backed up my silence of the lambs and top gun movies. I did the backing up back to back with no keyboard intervention during the process.

The silence of the lambs required NO compression while the top gun movie I believe was somewhere from 28GB to a 25GB bdr. The final size was 21.5GB. I only backup the main movie usually with DTS sound and 1 subtitle stream. What I am about to describe also happened with my Die Hard backup using the trial version. I am now fully registered using v.7062.

What I see is a band going across the screen that is slighly discolored and slightly less sharp than the rest of the screen. Sometimes its gets a little spoltchy, but not pixeliated. I'd say its about 25% of the picture from top to bottom and it goes across the entire screen left to right. It comes and goes, but mainly its there.

I'm using a gt9500 pci-e card with 1gb ram and the april 2010 nvidia driver. my machine is an athlon 4200+ w/2gb memory. also have pioneer 205 burner and ritek white hub bdr 25gb blanks. I use imgburn after fab. when I burn to a tdk 25gb bd-re i get the same exact results so the media is not in question.

Does anyone have any ideas as to why this happens on some backups while other backups are fine? regards...

ok I will try it. Also just tried backing up my Goldfinger blu ray and fab can't do it. I'm trying to do main movie. the analyzation completes. but when it starts the copy process it gets stuck on .3%. I tried using the 2nd file on the dvd which only has 2 chapters but is 1080p with same time length. same problem. If I do full disc to a bd50 with no compression, it works.
I'll try the beta on this one too.

      any ideas? regards

        other software working

v.7065 beta made the copying process even worse. it looked as if the analyzation stage at the beginning was going to take a few hours, so I canceled it.

I then tried that "other" software and its copying Goldfinger with no problems. Looks like a 3 1/2 hr rip. I'm starting to lose faith in Fab. Regards...

Please let me know how Godfather is going. I had no luck with it too. Somehow I manage to convert Godfather 1, and it was OK, but others 2 didn't work. It seems they are 1080i upconverts that DVDFab can't handle. I still have them all ripped on my HDD waiting for better time.

            hi:

Sorry to hear that you also are having problems. My problem is with Goldfinger not Godfather. The "other" software finished and did the copying of Goldfinger but it came out jerky. that is the reason I did not purchase the other software. During trial 1/2 my copies came out jerky. I never have that problem with Fab. Just the splotchy problem and the inability to rip Goldfinger at all. Regards..

Oops, I don't know what I was thinking (I'm talking about Goldfinger/Godfather). Anyway, back to your problem, have you tried with PathPlayer disabled? Please try.

                  Hi pennsylvaniaron,

Please try DVDFab 7067 to see the result:

If the problem still exists, please post dvdfab_internal.log file, thanks.

                      hello fengtao:
same exact results with 7067. after analyzation the process begins. the mb/s are high and starts to get lower. the percent reaches .30% (only takes a few seconds to get to .30%). then the task time left starts to climb to I think 20 hours and then resets to all 0000000 and the mb/s disappears when she reaches 20 hours. The time elapsed keeps going up correctly but nothing is getting done. see log file for Goldfinger below:

ALSO ANOTHER CURIOUS PROBLEM lately with 7060, 7062, 7066, 7067>>> I set my output directory to my "G" drive but when Fab starts the target directory is always my "I" drive which is my burner. Inside the settings it does say the G drive. Isn't the target supposed to default to what the output directory is set to?

If you set the output target using the folder icon, then close and reopen DVDFab it should remember it regardless of other settings, but you may need to set the default output type to folder.

signals no matter what i try it always defaults to my blu ray drive. When I was using the trial version it worked correctly. Since i bgt the lifetime subscription it doesn't work anymore. To me its a bug and a minor one.

I'm more concerned with Fengtao's response to why Fab cannot compress the main movie Goldfinger. It's only able to do it as BD50, but the resulting file is almost 29GB, too large for my 25GB blank. Hopefully Fengtao can figure it out...To me this is important because other movies may also be affected for the same reason. regards...

I am not sure why you are seeing that. Mine always comes up with my VIDEO hard drive folder as the target in copy modes that allow it.
