Is there a way to control the number of files in the STREAM folder?

I noticed that ripping blu-rays, using v7.0.9.0, can somtimes produce a number of m2ts files (10+) in the STREAM or just one m2ts file.

    1. Why does the number of .m2ts files created vary?

    2. Is there a setting that enables the user to choose to create just one file?

The number varies depending on how the original disc is authored. There are currently no controls or settings in DVDFab that can change this.

      Hi jk_movie,

We keep same file structures as original when doing "Blu-ray to Blu-ray".

To combine all .m2ts files into one, you will need new "M2TS passthrough" feature of "Blu-ray to Mobile", which will be available soon.

Why multiple m2ts play out of sequence?

Thanks for explaining the functionality more fully.

I asked this question only b/c I own a Western Digital HD Media Player. This thing works great b/c it simply lets me plug in an external Hard Drive and presto; all media files are accessable. By default it plays multiple files within the same folder in sequence. And this has not been a problem until recently with BluRay m2ts files.

The problem is that multiple BluRay m2ts files may be sequentially numbered, but they do not play back in sequence. The proof of this lies within another file ./PLAYLIST/00000.mpls. This file defines the sequence, and if your media player doesn't use this file, then it won't play the movie in the proper sequence. This clearly creates problems for media players. So a single file is preferable to multiple files.

As an added bit of info, I tried the next logical step. I manually renamed the files to match the sequence defined in /PLAYLIST/00000.mpls, and to my surprise this didn't work either. Apparently, each .m2ts file contains timestamps or other information that prevents this simple filename manipulation from working. So again, having the option to create a single file would be beneficial for those of us who do not burn DVDs, or BD-Rs, but simply make backups to use with our other household electronic gear.

Now I read that you mentioned a future BluRay -> Mobile option, but I have to admit that I don't understand what that format is and what the quality of playback is on a full 1080p system. Currently, I'm only interested in being able to playback on large screen LCDs or projectors with 7.1 audio. Plus, I don't know if my media players will recognize the output. Mobile to me, equates with inferior playback quality b/c the data is heavily compressed. I don't know. Am I correct?

PS - please don't forget us users that simply want to create a digital jukebox/library that works with our existing equipment as you develop/enhance your product. Please consider including this simple functionality - single file output in non-mobile format.

The Blu-Ray to Mobile will offer a passthrough mode similar to the VOB Passthrough of DVD to Mobile with no loss of quality whatsoever.

As said previously, Fab BR to BR maintains the structure of the original disk and I think there will not be any addition to this module to achieve what you want.
