Unit key 3 not found...Star Trek disk doesn't open

I'm trying to copy Star Trek (2008 release) but DVDFab hangs when trying to open the disk. This is the second disk I've tried and the same results both times. I've tried with Pathplayer enabled and disabled with no affect.

The logs show the following error repeatedly:

    unit key not found 3

Any idea what's going on here? Sounds like an unsupported Blu-Ray disk to me.

I was originally using 8.0.0.5 but updated to 8.0.0.9b with no affect.

The logs show a good connection to the server. Looks like it needs an update.

Please, post a log for 8011 too.
The disc you are trying with... is it an original Blu-ray or an encrypted copy?

If your DVDFab can't recognize original movies from DVD drive very well on your computer, please start the movie in your PC DVD Player (like PowerDVD) for a few seconds and then start the DVDFab analysis. Once the analysis starts, you can turn off the PC DVD player.

            Hi 0brian,

Why you suggest that? DVDFab can do AACS auth like normal Blu-ray player, so I don't think this step is necessary.

In fact, from DVDFab 8010 beta, we changed a little bit about disc detection, so you can try latest beta to see the result, thanks.

            Best Regards,

I think you misunderstood me. DvdFab can handle both original and copied (encrypted or not) of Blu-ray discs with no problem. I was just trying to find the nature of the problem.

So I tried opening the disk while another program was playing the disk and that allowed me to open it properly. I then stopped the playing program (TotalMedia fwiw) and continued with the copy process as usual. The copy process completed but when I looked in the output folder it was empty. So I tried again and this time left the disk open in the player throughout the whole process (not playing as such, just on a title menu). This time it worked.

I've attached the logs showing an attempt which failed with the original problem, then the logs which failed to write any output and finally the successful write.

Looking at the log, I can see that in the first case there is another program that does not let DvdFab operate properly. If you want DvdFab to decrypt the disc properly then disable or close any other program that accesses the disc. It's like running two Blu-ray players at the same time, one will fail, as they compete to get access to disc.

DvdFab is an application that can fully decrypt and process any Blu-ray. It decrypts them just like a Player, so you don't need to keep one open in the background or anything like that.

That's strange because your interpretation of the log is contrary to what I've observed. The only way I can open this disk is be consciously playing it in TotalMedia then opening in fab concurrently. All other attempts to open it in fab alone fail with the unit key 3 error repeatedly firing out in the logs.

Then it means that is something else, not TotalMedia that is not letting DvdFab access the disc. And only when TotalMedia is running, that smth is staying off so programs like TMT and DvdFab can access the disc.

Let's find it. Do you have ImgBurn?
In ImgBurn in the menu: Tools->Filter Driver Load Order there is a list that you can copy out with "Copy To Clipboard". Paste it to a file and attach it, please.
                      Thanks

I was wrong. There was a problem on some machines.
Please try new version 8.0.1.5, it should work now in any circumstance. Sorry for the troubles you had.
