Any BR integrity check/test (playback freezes)

Hi, I have problems with BR movies freezing when playing. This has been reported by others there are a few symptoms (1) does not occur with dvdfab version 6 - but does occur with version 7 and still version 8 (2) only occurs with 'Main Movie' - if backup full disc then playback doesn't freeze (3) the freeze occurs at the exact same time every time, e.g. reproducable, also freezes at same place when using a different PC.

Therefore I believe the BR ISO file has a problem (maybe some corrupt frames). Does anyone know if there is a program to parse a BR file to check for corrupt frames?

If you going to post about a problem you need to post information to prove the problem exists.

    Help Us Help You

If you are posting about an operational problem with one of the DVDFab products, you will improve the speed and accuracy of the response by providing some information in the very first post that will probably be needed.

First, make note of any error codes or messages that appear in popup boxes and put them in your post. Information on error codes that appear in the DVDFab UI are captured in one of the logs we request below.

DVDFab keeps logs of its activities that supply basic system information and can help pinpoint where and when an error happened and help pinpoint the cause. The default location for these logs on most Windows systems is:

    C:\Documents and Settings\your username\My Documents\DVDFab\Log

The logs are simple text files that can be opened with Windows Notepad. If the size exceeds the forum’s attachment size limit, you may need to delete older entries or copy and paste the relevant ones into a new file.

dvdfab_internal.log Attach for all problems. Time stamped, most recent at the bottom. Please edit to include only the most recent or relevant log session.

dvdfab_burn_vso.log Attach for all problems. The entries are time stamped with the most recent at the top.

dvdfab_burn_imgburn.log Attach if you have ImgBurn set as the burning engine and the problem concerns disc burning. Time stamped with the most recent at the bottom.

dvdfab_process.log Attach if DVDFab crashes and the crash report window does not come up or complete correctly or if internal error codes appear in the DVDFab window (“Task Failed…”). Time stamped, most recent at the bottom.

    Other Information:

Depending on the nature of the problem, it can help to know:
If this happens with all discs or just one
    Your operating system/CPU/memory configuration
If you are using external hard drives or optical drives
If you have made any recent changes to your OS or system hardware
If you have other DVD or BD software installed, particularly if recently added.

Posts with all the requested information will be answered first.

Will post logs (when I get home).

Thing is DVDFab doesn't report any problem (at least not on the screen, e.g. no pop up windows).

Therefore my message is about whether anybody has software to check a BR ISO - presently I need to watch the movie before knowing if the backup is any good.

Is this the same movie or different movies that this happens with? What are you using for burn engine? VSO, Nero or ImgBurn? If using VSO the burn engine that came as an option when installing DVDFab then install ImgBurn and use that as the burn engine instead as it fixes most issues like this. DVDFab uses burn engine to create the ISO so burn engine is still needed and logs will tell us more details that are needed

The problem relates to 10 consecutive different movies I have tried to backup, these include Harry Potter 2, Die Hard 2, Gran Torino etc.

Burn Engine - I have never done anything other than install DVDFab (so must be the VSO option). Tonight will try imgburn and will report back. Thanks for help.

Yup, you're using VSO since it's the default burn engine that comes bundled with the retail version (unless you opt out of VSO at the install screen).

I suspect your problems will be resolved with Img....much more reliable and configurable.
There is an excellent video tutorial on how to set up Img with Fab, as well as some additional info such setting up the Automatic Write Speed function...
well worth the few minutes to set up.

Just click on the link in my sig below...

Thanks will take a few minutes to check this out when i get home.

PS. Still keen to know if anybody has an integrity checker program to spot BR problems - my files cause TMT to stop playback at exactly the same position so it points to a frame problem.

Could give BDinfo a try not sure if it will do what you want but does not hurt to read about it and give a try

Problems with VSO and imgburn - see logs

Tonight installed most recent imgburn and set DVDfab 8005 to use this.

Openned 'Angels and Demons' iso (Full Disc) backup from harddrive and selected create 'Main Movie' iso - using imgburn.

                    Next post

Previous post explained how I created a movie only iso, i.e. had BR saved as FULL DISC and now openned it to create small iso for Main Movie.

Playing with TMT to ISO 'Full Disc' plays fine. But iso 'Main Movie' freezes precisely at 4min 43 secs. My previous post gave the logs using DVDFab 8005 with latest imgburn.

This post I repeated the exercise but used the default VSO (not imgburn). Playing the resulting 'Main Movie' again freezes at 4min 43secs.

Summary DvdFab 8005 cannot create a playable Main Movie iso using VSO or imgburn. Interestingly if I use an old version of DVDFab (version 6205) then the resulting Main Movie iso (usig VSO) is playable!!!!!!!!!!

My PC is windows 7 64-bit. Back to my original question is there any tool to parse the resulting BR file to check for frame or bit rate problems??

                    All assistance would be appreciated

Post 8 -as you suggested I readup on bdinfo. I don't think its the right thing to spot a small frame problem but will give it a try. Last night was more about getting error logs posted regarding my problems.

Another test. So far I have created two separate 'Main Movie' ISOs (on a hard drive) from the same source 'Full Disc' iso (on a hard drive). Both 'Main Movie' iso freeze at the same position when played - one iso created using imgburn and the other with vso both using dvdfab 8005.

Used dvdfab version 6205 and created 'main Movie' iso (on a hard drive) again from the same source 'Full Disc' iso (on a hard drive) - and guess what the iso plays and doesn't freeze.

Therefore I believe the BR ISO file has a problem (maybe some corrupt frames). Does anyone know if there is a program to parse a BR file to check for corrupt frames?
yeah. same problem with mine. same chapter same time freeze i think i rip the ironman II 6times and yet same problem occurs. freeze, subtitle freeze and it forwards automatically for 1 to 2secs.
