Eclipse - DVD Ripper to AVI

Got 8.0.5.6 allows Eclipse to make backup (#6) of an purchased DVD... but when making an AVI file for some reason it plays at double speed.

Anyone else getting this reaction in the latest version?

      Any solutions?

          CBR929 and SIGNALS REPLY

I purchased my DVDFab in 11/2009. The version of the movie I have is the retail single disc.

And I believe I found my issue. When I clicked the ? under what I purchased it shows that DVD Copy has expired. Guess this is my answer???

          Thank you so much!

And when I use the DVDFab Passkey 8 it gives me the exact same "Reading/Writing Error Control."

                Hi cathyschuchman,

There are many versions of Passkey 8.xxx and I realize you probably are referring to v.8007, but I don't know for certain.

Nevertheless, please download and install the latest official release:

As signals suggested, it sounds like you have one of the "other" R1 discs

Initially, I recommend that you disable Passkey and run 8056 with PathPlayer enabled. Passkey may be conflicting, although sometimes there is benefit to running Passkey alone or simultaneously with DVD Copy on stubborn discs.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

                  Maineman:

Thank you for your support. I did have v.8.0.0.8 of the Passkey. But I did disable it and made sure that I was running v.8.0.5.6 of DVDFab.

I am copying "Movie Only." That is what I usually do - I don't like the previews and whatnot at the beginning.

I got up to 50.4% and it gave me the "Reading/Writing Error Control" window again.

Any additional thoughts? Thank you so much for your help!

                    You're very welcome.

                    Have you cleaned the disc?
Please do this regardless of its appearance.

There are some other tricks to to try.

                    below in my sig.

Pay particular attention to cleaning as described and altering the read error settings and the read-ahead cache settings.

You may have a bad press Cathy.
No way to know for sure, but this happens more frequently than you might think.
If it's not too inconvenient, I'd exchange it for another disc wherever you purchased it.

                      Thank you for your help!

I tried cleaning and I also tried all of your troubleshooting tips and nothing worked. So I am going to see about getting another copy of the movie and see if that works.

One other question: I have the current DVDFab version 8.0.5.6. But I also noticed I have DVDFab 5 Platinum loaded as well. Is this a problem? Can I delete the DVDFab 5?

Thanks again for all of your help!

                        No, no problem at all.
The major versions of Fab, ie., 3.xxx, 4.xxx - 8xxx are installed in separate folders and are independent of one another.

Yes, you can uninstall Fab 5 without causing a problem, but on occasion, you might find an older version will work where the new release does not.
Realistically, the amount of space the app takes up is negligible.

I keep Fab 4, Fab 6 and Fab 7 installed on my rig, ready to go.
You might try Fab 5 on the disc just for laughs.

                          Re: Twilight Eclipse Problem

I am having the exact same problems that Cathy is having. I only use a registered copy of PassKey (ver. 8.0.0.8) on Windows XP SP3. If I have CSS Remove checked then PassKey tries loading the disc forever after reporting the same error mention in Cathy's post and I have to cancel it. If I have CSS Remove not checked then PassKey loads the disc in about 65 seconds (normally loads discs in 20-25 seconds). I am trying this on the single disc R1 release of Twilight Eclipse.

ADDITION: I use PassKey in conjuction with other programs such as DVD Decrypter. Normally when PassKey is running it hides those unreadable sectors from the other programs. Even though I unchecked CSS Remove I left the other removals checked but Passkey failed to hide the unreadable sectors from any of the other programs.

Unreadable sectors found in the following files on Twilight Eclipse:
                          VTS_03_1.VOB (beginning)
                          VTS_03_7.VOB (end)
                          VTS_08_1.VOB (middle)
                          VTS_09_1.VOB (middle)
                          VTS_10_1.VOB (middle)
                          VTS_11_1.VOB (middle)
                          VTS_12_0.VOB (middle)

It is the same structure I encountered on the other Twilight DVD's which PassKey had no trouble with.

MicroChip: Please update to Beta Version 8.0.1.0 of DVDFab Passkey and try again. I don't think those older versions could handle it correctly. You shouldn't have any problem after you update.

                              Please , Help-me.

Bought latest version of DVDFab and I can not read or copy the DVD to my hard drive Eclipse. Please this depends on some future update? Someone could copy this movie?

I get no error message, it just never ends to open the disc. The bar in the window recarraga time. The light stays on Driver dvd with direct running. I've waited for over five minutes and not even open the disc. Using Win XP 32

                              Thanks

What version number of DVDFab are you using? What region is the disc? DVDFab works for the Region1 (US) version and others.
