Problems with 'customize' mode

Hi,

I've been using DVDFab to backup my DVD's to a home media server. For the first dozen or so, I used 'full disc', and these play back in WMC like normal DVD's. Then I started using 'customize' mode, so I could bypass the FBI warnings and main menu. None of the 20 or so copies I made in this mode will play back in either WMC or VLC. To be clear, I'm playing back the files from a server; I haven't ripped any DVD copies (nor do I intend to).

I did an admittedly brief search on the forum and didn't find any similar cases. Is there any explanation / advice out there for this problem?

I ripped a DVD copy using "customize", and played ok.

To play a movie with VLC you have to select Media->Open Disc and then use the browse button to select the VIDEO_TS folder of the movie you want to watch. You can also select Open File and the navigate to the VIDEO_TS.IFO file of the movie you want to see.

//EDIT// I just tried one I made earlier today with the current version of DVDFab and it is playing fine. As katiekim noted, we need more details of the nature of the failure to be able to help you.

Hey folks,

Thanks for offering to help. Here's some more information:

1. I got the version number wrong (I assumed I had the latest DVDfab). I'm actually using v8.0.0.2. I plan to upgrade and try again to see if the problem goes away.

2. When I try to play the copy in WMC, it gives me this error: "Windows Media Center cannot play this DVD. Restart WMC and insert the DVD again." Then I get a windows "VLC has stopped working" dialogue.

3. VLC is nastier: This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information."
