is there a way to turn on updater check?

I get a alert once in a blue moon on to update dvdfab dvd burner. I would like it to alert me everytime i start the program? is there a setting for this?

also my alert always seems to happen after I do the movie and click finish.

The control is in Common Settings->General, checkbox for "check for new version automatically". It only alerts for Official Releases, not beta versions. Live, unblocked internet connection is of course required.
