    Not enough compression

I am using v8.0.6.8 and am having a problem where it won't compress movies enough to fit onto one DVD5 disc. It will only compress it to 4.79 GB and no further.

It worked for me up until last week so I don't know what is the problem.

    Also, I am using ImgBurn.

Please post the internal and burn logs from DVDFab and ImgBurn that relate to this title. We need more information to be able to help you. Make sure you have the output size set to DVD-5.

Also check in general setting to see if the the default setting has been changed from 4300 to 4790.

The max is 4472 to fit on a DVD5 disc.

AGJ pointed out to you "exactly" what will happen.

              Gruñón has already explained,

Translation, you cannot fit 4700 MB on an SL disc.

              This begs the question,
              Who's the idiot?

Granted but why would you want to do so.
You risk making a coaster when it is not necessary.
When you say "With no problem" you are opening the door for the those with little experience to start screaming the software is buggy.
I have mine set at 4350 for well over 6000 trouble free burns and see no reason to change it.

What is the quality difference between 4472 and 4480?
                  Nit picking ?

Right, and Gruñón is aware of what you're saying.
The actual size of an SL DVD +R is 4482.625 MB.
This, of course, doesn't mean that you can write a file of this size. You can't actually write on the edge of the dye/disc.

Gruñón is stating the "usual, recommended and safe" max file size...assuming top shelf media.
You're talking the difference of 8 MB total.
This is a far cry from the 4700 MB mentioned above

Just an old sound track (AC-3/2) from an early 50's TV, b&w serial with a run time of ~ 23 minutes, takes up about 36 MB by itself.
The 8 MB difference you speak of is negligible.

Nothing wrong with setting your max at 4480 as long as you're happy, but I wouldn't recommend it.
Most of us draw the line at 4472.
It's just not worth the risk...JMO

Oh, yes , the actual size of an SL DVD -R is 4489.250
                    (Need I say negligible again?)

                          Glad you got it working.

Just curious. Did you manually change the default setting or do we have a glitch in the software that is not holding default settings?

It's the "I'm going to use every single MB that I paid for" syndrome. They probably also try to use every cell phone minute per month too, Hello Movie Phone!

To be honest, I don't really remember. I don't think I touched it, but then again maybe I did.

I'll make sure and keep an eye on it to see if it switches by itself.
