    Ok ripping/copying DVD, problems playing

I'm able to get the movie 'How To Train Your Dragon' to rip and copy to single layer disc, all of the info on the disc shows that it copied just fine as the video and audio_ts (I'm copying the 'main movie' only and using -Rs). This is where my problem comes in at.
The DVDs play fine on my LG (which plays just about anything you put in it), but when we go to my Dad's house the disc won't play. It'll play on both mine and my Dad's computer with all video/audio intact. Heck, I've reset my DMA as a start but no go. I've even tried using +Rs to the same affect.
I'm not the most computer literate, please help.

My bet is you'll need to use +R and change the booktype to DVD-ROM to play it at your dad's. If your drive is capable all you need to do is set DVDFab in common settings, see attachment. DVD-ROM is what commercially released DVD movies are, and is compatible across most all players.

          Made the adjustment

And still a no go. I did go in and adjust the audio to MPEG-2 since that's what the original DVD states, but I don't think that's going to cure my problem.
I did have one of my friends suggest that I Uninstall/Reinstall (since I paid for the extra 2 year warrenty). Do you think this is the way to go?

            One more thing...

I'm also wondering if it might be my burner. It's several years old (even though it is an LG), might be one other thing that I need to look at.

              Hi micelf
I do not know if this may help but, your burner also has a newer firmware update that you will find at your manufactures firmware page for your burner.
The current firmware is 1.06 20th October, 2008 GSA-H55L_106.zip from FirmWare HQ found here

NOTE: If you do not know how to flash your drive do not do it , it will render your drive useless, it may be best to follow the instructions at your computer manufactures site.
Have you also tried the newest version of Fab found here
I am also in agreement with 90312 that switching to +R media and setting the booktype may work if your dad has an older DVD player.
You may even try to switch burn engines to ImgBurn you will find it here along with a tutorial on setting it up with Fab remember to set up the AWS in ImgBurn and set your burn speed to 1/2 the rated speed of your disc's.

It plays in your set top player but not your dad's is that correct?

Let DVDFab scan the copy and see if the booktyping actually stuck, should look like the attachment:

                  Checked the DVD...

and found that it does have the booktype of DVD-ROM. I am going to see what I can do about updating the firmware for the burner. I'll go by the manufacturer's directions for that (not savy enough to do it on my own).
I married DVDFab to ImgBurn as soon as I purchased it, so it's been my burn engine since the start.
I've gone in and manually slowed the burn speed to a 4x but haven't had time to 'cook' another one to find out if that was a good fix yet or not.

                    I want to say...

Thanks (in advance) to CBR929 and 90312 for the assist! I'd be confounded if not for you advice!

                      A new wrinkle

My Dad has an old VCR. He connected it up to his computer (he's an ex-TV repairman) and was able to record the video onto the old tape medium. He then transferred this back to DVD and it plays fine on both his and my DVD players.
Must I change the video format to allow the burn, or should I be able to copy straight to disc with the Fab?

What format was the video to begin with, on the PC?
He then transferred this back to DVD
To a disc or a folder on the PC hard drive?

Software players on the PC or standalone players hooked up the TV?

It is not clear what you are trying to do. If the video is in a VIDEO_TS folder, you can burn it straight to disc with DVDFab using Write Data mode in DVD Copy.
