hangs when placing blank dvd in burner

    windos 7 sp1
one dvd burner Optiarec AD5560A ATA
system works perfectly with 8085 but starting with 8087 the program fails to 'see' blank dvd in burner although the system does see it and prompts asking what to do with blank, burn dvd etc. this is consistat with all versions including 8092. with 8085 and 8092 on same computer 8085 works perfectly interfaced with imgburn but not with 8092. 8092 also will not go forward with burn using vso.

logs of a perfect burn with 8085 and fail with 8092 attached. both versions are on board

    no error codes generated
the system hangs after ejection of orriginal and although the computer knows that the dvd is blank in the drive, dvdfab seems not recognize that

any help to diagnose would be appreciated

    Hi michael1016,

Have you tried to copy THE_HIT_LIST_2011 to HDD firstly, then burn the movie folder from HDD to the blank dvd disc inserted in your Optiarc DVD+-RW AD-5560A DD11?

Please check if you can avoid this hanging issue in this way.

    Sincerely,
    --
    Sunny

You might also try turning off autoplay for the burner drive. It may not be releasing it completely after you close the "what do you want to do?" window.

the system will burn an ISO to the hard drive. turning off the autoplay has no affect on the program knowing that a blank disk is in the drive. The thing that has me really confused is that the 8085 version works just fine while versions past 8087 fail to see the blank dvd. Both programs are active on the same platform, and are consistant in working (8085) and not working (8092 included). Thanks for the interest so far, and I noticed in the general section someone that seems to have the same or similar issue.

also while the program is waiting for a blank that is there, the program fails to respond to a cancel, and i have to use task manager to stop that popup..

the program will then allow me to close and restart...

thanks for the help and hints so far...

          DMA reset has no affect

Another post mentioned DMA resetting as possible solution. That has no affect on this platform. The thing that is confusing to me is why 8085 works perfectly, but 8092 (starting with 8087 if i recall correctly) does not see the blank disk.

            Hi michael1016
If you want you could try updating your drive to the newest firmware found here http://www.firmwarehq.com/Optiarc/AD-5560A/files.html

NOTE: If you do not know how to flash your drive do not do it, it will render your drive useless.

Have you also tried uninstalling your drive from device manager restarting your computer and let windows reinstall the drivers for your drive to see if Fab will then recognize your Verbatim blanks.

              Update of Firmware

The update suggested seems to have worked. The drive and softare seem to be working again. Before flashing the drive I again confirmed that 8085 still worked properly and 9092 not. The drive was flashed with the suggested firmware and again tested. Two backup copies were made with perfect function using imgburn.

Why it worked with one version and not the other before the firmware update I do not know, but it works now.

Thank you for the help and assistance.

It appears that prior to your firmware update, your verbs did not bitset correctly.
I suspect now that your verbs are indeed being booktyped to ROM...courtesy of my good friend CBR929.

As you are no doubt aware, the booktype field (the first 4 bits at the beginning of a DVD +R) must be changed prior to writing (not so with +RW).
