When set to main movie, if you play a preview of the movie then start ripping whilst the preview is playing, the movie continues to play in the background (sound only) and slows the rip process to a crawl.

This is a known issue with Preview. As a workaround, you can try disabling Preview auto-open and auto-start in DVDFab Common Settings.
