I went into my DEP settings and I had an entire list of DVD Fab. I unchecked them all. Is this what I was supposed to do? Or should I leave them checked?
I am still receiving the same "Changing Hybrid Disc Layer" message and it just spins and tries to open. Yet, it opens DVD+Rs with no problem.
I'm pretty upset that I spent 300 dollars on this program to only have it not work when the update kicks in, and no one seems interested in helping me from the DVD Fab camp.

If you decide to give another try.
TRY THIS During install when the screen comes up for destination folder I put C:\Program Files\DVDFab 8QT and start menu folder I put DVDFab 8112, I change the blue from DVD Fab 8QT, and add 112 after the 8, which will allow me to have more than one version installed, right now I have 10 versions of 8 installed and running, it will put 2 icons on your desktop but, you will have to rename the DVD Fab 8QT to DVD Fab 8112QT.
I also believe there is still something on your computer that is not letting Fab access your drive or a problem with WMP12.
I'm not sure if this will help but, have you checked your DEP settings?
Are you also putting a disc in your drive before starting Fab or after starting Fab?

EDIT Make sure you use this link for your download
DEP settings, this is the only thing I completely forgot about.
Ill will check this tonight, however I wont be installing multible copies of DVDFab, I only just got my system back to how I want it.
If that works then I will be very happy.
Wonder what other people have under DEP settings as I do remember DVDFab being listed in there, but as I said will check once I get home.

Right.
I give up 100% on DVDFab, absolute waste, it was a great program.
I would like to thank the devs for nothing.
Thankgod I dont dev my app on the "it works on mine so its you" attitude.
Sorry if Im venting, its just 4 or 5 days and nothing from the devs on this.
Again thanks to CBR929 (who isnt even part for DVDFab) for trying to help.
To all the others having issues, you should all register and post.
We are being ignored cause we are classed as a "small" minority.
I have spent the last 4 hours restoring my system, after trying to get the new flawed DVDFab working.
So this is the last time Im posted.
Sorry to the original poster as his question never got answered.Last edited by F0L; 08-18-2011, 11:26 PM.

I have to thank CBR929 for trying to help.
I just cant understand this "it works on my system, so its your system" attitude that some users come out with.
Just 10 minutes looking at different threads (named differently) have very simular issues.
As far as I know, no one from DVDFab is interested in the "small" amount of people having issues. Well I would'nt say its small, as someone already pointed out people float, this is what I done originally, before posting.
I cant see how new customers would want to buy it, if it may or may not work on their system. Which seems to be the case and alot of standard users who have it working take the attitude "its your machine", "its something you have installed" or simply "who cares it works on mine", which is crazy.
Well it looks like Im stuck on DVDFab 6, but hang on a minute, V6 works, so it must be my computer, hardware and things installed on machine.
See what Im saying.
I have destroyed my windows install, in hope it was something I had installed, obviously its not and its a bug in the DVDFab core (for how it deals with reading discs?) or Qt plaform simply screws it up.
Be nice to have a non Qt version released so we can test, to rule out Qt.

Reaky appreaciatte the work you've put it to this....
Shame the developers aren't interested enough to support there own producr.
Though I have to say I'm not surprissed, In the short time I have used DVDFAB whenever I have contacted supprt I've found their replies unhelpfull and terse to the point of beig rude.
I'd alSo point to my earlier post where on my pc i was advised to upgrade to the latest version to resolve A DVDRIPPER issue which functionally it did to a drgrees, though till throws up error messages.
So despite what others are saying in this tread about it not being a new verion of DVDFAB issue all the evidance I have is, it deffintly is.

Right, I completely removed everything one by one.
Still not working. So it aint my system or anything I have installed.
Waste of a whole night.
I did notice one thing, in general tab, it lists your drive etc etc.
Where it says disc info, mine has always said "Unknown Media".
So any other ideas, cause the old it works on my system doesnt help.
Not one of the autors and bothered comming into this thread to try and help.

opens with dvd drive only not bd/dvd drive
Hi everyone
Hope this sheds some dim light on touchy subject that more knowledgeable folks can solve.
Have two drives, one is bd/dvd lg drive for burning bd mostly. Prior this drive also used with dvds. With the 8112 version the bd/dvd drive reads hybrid disk and will not open dvds and sits there as others indicated. But does open bd. The dvd drive opens the dvd disk fine without any reference to the hybrid disk.
Hope this helps to solve the hybrid disk issue with the dvds.

I use the advance mode, but on the last step make sure that you open and check the BOLD folders, one time I almost deleted my DVD Fab keys.
Another you could try is to change the drive letter of your drive, I know yours is not B, but a few months ago members were having problems because their drive letter was B, and changing it solved the problem.
Hope this helps

It would seem that doing an uninstall, DVDFab leaves all the crap in the registry. I would have thought it should have cleaned up all entries it adds or atleast ask you.
I will try altering my drive letter, not an ideal solution if it helps as my system is all setup to use F:.
I will also try uninstalling my coding enviroment, just inscase thats causing issues.

So, this is what DVDfab shows after it fails to read a disc. Would the fact that my drive is a BD-Rom/DVDRW have anything to do with it??
""

Also, when I hit the "Reset DMA" button in the "General" portion in settings, it prompted me to "restart my computer to make DMA be enabled". Restarted and did everything else, but no go. Still same problem with the initial scan of the disc.
Again, I was running a previous version of Qt without any problems until I updated to 8.1.1.2

Log looks the sames the 8.1.1.2Qt log.
Another insteresting fact, ccCleaner doesnt remove all the reg entries for dvdfab.
Plus you have to run it about 3 or 4 times, to get rid of most of it.
