    Won't backup/copy "The Traveler"

    I've got the Region 1 DVD of the movie "The Traveler" and I'm trying to do a backup of it with DVDFab v8.1.2.6 Qt on Windows 7 Ultimate Edition [with all current SP/patches]. Once DVDFab is done with its initial analysis of the disc, I get the following information in the log file:

    I have DVDFab configured to have PathPlayer always enabled, but the log says it is disabled.

    With the DVD Copy / Full Disc panel active, I see that the disc is reported as having 32.604 GB of data which must be compressed down to 8100 MB for a DVD9 image. This is obviously way more data than can be stored on even a single-sided dual layer DVD, and switching over to the DVD Copy / Customize panel shows me that there are supposedly 78 different titles on the disc that all have 16 chapters and play times of anywhere from 1:20:31 to 1:39:21, and then there's some very short titles that you would expect to be the main menu, sub-menus, previews/trailers, etc....

    When I play the disc in a consumer DVD player, it plays fine, but I cannot seem to make a backup that will play at all. It would appear that DVDFab is not capable of determining which of these titles is the real main title for the disc and which ones are the fake/bogus titles.

    I also have this exact same problem with "True Grit" [Region 1 DVD].


    What's going on here?

    Is there additional diagnostic information that I can provide regarding how DVDFab is operating w/respect to this disc?

    Is there anything additional that I can do w/respect to configuring DVDFab to get it to copy this disc properly?

    8.1.2.9 is the latest version.

      DVDFab v8.1.2.9 Qt Beta still has the exact same problem as v8.1.2.6 Qt w/respect to backup/copy of "The Traveler" [Region 1 DVD]. Additionally, the release notes for v8.1.2.9 Qt Beta makes absolutely no reference to having a fix for this type of problem, nor does it have anything else listed in general for dealing with new types of copy protection.


      Next suggestion???

        So... is this a known problem with DVDFab v8.1.2.9 Qt Beta & earlier?

        The simple response of "your version isn't the newest beta" really wasn't helpful at all, and after upgrading to the latest beta and reporting back that the problem is still present, I haven't gotten any sort of reply back regarding this problem with "The Traveler" and "True Grit".

        It would help to have some confirmation or acknowledgement giving a positive indication about the problem if it has been confirmed.

          Also make sure that Pathplayer is always enabled.
          I know for sure that Fab has no problem with True Grit.

                Here's the log file from v8.1.2.9 Qt Beta. Although the configuration says that PathPlayer is always enabled, this log file always seems to indicate that it is disabled. Perhaps DVDFab simply determined that it didn't need to use PathPlayer with "The Traveler".

                I've also attached some png screenshots of DVDFab at both the "Full Disc" menu and at the "Customize" menu. For "Customize", I've scrolled through the list of titles and done screenshots for each page's worth of titles so that you can see them all, barring the fact that I can only attach 5 files and there are 7 total. The last 2 that I can't attach right now eventually show some smaller titles that are menus & special features. It would appear the the copy protection creates some sort of symbolic links to be interpreted as bogus titles on the disc and DVDFab is unable to pick out which of the titles is the real main title for the disc.

                    As requested... I specifically set PathPlayer to disabled, saved the change, restarted DVDFab, confirmed that the configuration setting showed it disabled, then set it to always enabled, saved the change, restarted DVDFab again, then confirmed that it was still set to always enabled. Inserted the "The Traveler" DVD again, allowed DVDFab to recognize it, then copied the log file information & pasted here:

                    Still no change from previously. This is happening with 3 different DVD +-RW drives across both a Win7 laptop & WinXP Pro desktop system, so I don't think it's anything to do with the particular hardware unless all of the hardware is subject to a similar fault of some sort.

                    Next suggestion?

                      I can confirm DVDFAB 8.1.2.6 will not copy "The Traveler" region 1 correctly. I received an error while it was analyzing & I clicked ignore all & it took a long time to rip. After burning it I tried it & the movie was pixelated & the whole movie did not copy. I tried Other Software & it copied fine.

                            If you are having a problem with this title, please click the "Send Info files" button on the info page (the opening page of Common Settings) after DVDFab tries to open the disc. Doesn't matter if it opens successfully or not.

                              @ signals I send the info in common settings as you said. I hope it's what you want. Pathplayer is grayed out for me.
