    Trouble burning

I have been using DVDFab for several years, great software, never a problem, but today I tried burning a movie that I have burned before successfully and had a problem.
    Here is my burn log:

DVDFab did not give me any error, but my DVD player cannot play disk.
    I am stumped? Any ideas?
    Thank you.

not sure but that doesn't look good, you can set Fab to eject disc when finished automatically. have you used that type blank media before? if not does your standalone dvd player support -rw media?

edit: might as well mention that is low quality media you're using, you could even try d/ling IMGBurn and follow Troy512's instructions for setting it up with DVDFab. There is a link at the top of this forum

Same media I have always used. Yes, my DVD player supports that media.
      What is parsing?

I think I better leave that to someone more knowledgeable as stated before I'm not sure.

            Hi mistermitch and welcome,

            I agree with W&B.
I understand that you've used this media for some time, but RW's aren't great for video archiving and this particular MID (media code) is crappy.
            No offense intended...

Have you tried more than one blank?

            Are these discs you're re-using?
If no, then I'd definitely switch to some quality media like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim...either -R or +R, but not RW.

If yes, perhaps one possibility is that this disc is worn out.
            This error...

...indicates that VSO had a problem trying to close the session (finalize).

You could try to close the disc with Img or better yet, burn the flick again using Img. I suspect you'll have more success with Img, particularly with RW's

I guess the first question to ask yourself is, "Why am I using RW?".
Should you decide to keep using RW's, I'd suggest some Verbs, as below:

            Media ID: MKM-A02-00
            Media type: DVD+RW

Although I almost always use Img, I did a small file to a verb RW with VSO.
            Here's the burn log:

Yes, I have tried more than one blank. I do re-use the disks.
No offense taken, I know this media is crap.
I will try better quality disks, but I don't know why everything was fine one day then will not work the next?
Can't think of anything I did to change my computer, no new software, just Window's updates.

You're welcome, tried to do a simple search about parsing and seems to have to do with the reading of info or structure of media or something or another...way over my head but really I think its something my grandfather used to grumble after hitting his finger while trying to hammer a nail

                    Hi mistermitch

Your burn log looks very unusual. If I can find a blank RW I will try one also. Maineman's log looks much more like what I would expect. Parsing usually means that the software is reading the file system information from the disc to determine what files it should find and where they are located on the disc. I'm not sure why that step is in the burn log (it is not in Maineman's).

Have you tried re installing DVDFab after the Windows update?

I read more and more about people having problems here lately after the IE8 update.

there have been changes in the VSO burning engine lately. if dvdfab 6 will not burn correctly for you. there is a method to use the older VSO with the new dvdfab.

I thought I had burned with DVDFab 6 in the past with no problem, could be wrong, must have used DVDFab 5.
Could anyone tell my why the changes in the VSO burning engine cause this error with my computer?

troy512, can you tell me the method for using the older VSO with the new DVDFab 6.
                            Thanks

                              Do a clean un-install.
Install the older version of DVDFab, then install the newer version and un-check the part for installing the VSO engine.

That will give you the newer version of DVDFab with the older version of the VSO burn engine.

BTW there is a new update today of DVDFab 6.0.6.9 beta

Removal of new protections may not be available yet in the free version of DVDFab (HD Decrypter)

Troy's excellent tutorial on Setting up ImgBurn with DVDFab :

I use Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim media mainly.
                              Trying Falcon D/L media

I use ImgBurn as my main burning engine

                              Free Media Player VLC
