DVDFAB will not open Stargate SG1

I have tried 2 different computers, 2 different versions of DVDFAB (current and one from august) but DVDFAB just sits there and stays at opening the disk (I have let it sit, opening the disk, for up to 10 minutes with no success) running win 7 64 bit on both computers. other disks open fine (I have tried SG1 Season 1 Volumes 1, 2, and 3 so far with no luck). I tried Brave, and that opens like a charm. been using DVDFAB recently for other titles as well. did many google searches and could not come up with anything specific to DVD fab and Stargate SG1. not sure if there are any logs I need to try to get/find for this to be addressed.

Let DVDFab analyze one of these discs, then find the internal log session and put it in a post. With the current version of DVDFab you can locate the logs by clicking on the "?" in the upper right and selecting "Open Log Folder". Notepad will read the log file; the most recent session will be at the bottom of the document. PathPlayer should be in the "Always Enable" mode. Press Cancel on the open disc progress box if it is still scanning after 5 minutes.

As I suspected, thanks for the log.

You can try it with PathPlayer disabled, which it should allow it to read, but some unplayable content may remain in the output folder.

It is also possible that the discs or drive are dirty, or the discs may be defective. Try playing the ones that won't open in the same drive using player software.

Are these discs from the 2007 Complete Series box set, like this: http://www.amazon.com/Stargate-SG-1-...series+box+set

Note that Amazon has this warning on this set:
This is a multi-disc product with tiered cardboard sleeves as the main method of disc storage. Please take caution when taking each disc out of the cardboard sleeve, as rubbing the back side of the disc against the other discs will lead to scratches.

what is it that you suspected? each of the discs I tried are pristine (they have never been out of the box since I bought them, they are not from the complete set as per the link you posted. they are from best buy (the big season boxes that each disk came in it's own DVD container) and I always take care with my DVD's . I found DVD shrink and each was copied to the hard drive with no issue, so it cannot be the drive or disk, and since i tried it on 2 computers and other disks worked fine, that, to me, eliminated the disk and drive and a possible candidate for the cause. I will try disabling path player. when you state there will still be unplayable content, as long as the episodes are in tact (don't care about the extras) then I am good. thanks for all the help and quick responses!

I realize that this is an old thread, however I'm having the exact same problem with Stargate SG-1 DVD's and the latest versions 8.2.2.2 and 9.0.2.2.

As you indicated disabling PathPlayer fixed the stuck on "Opening Source" problem but obviously these DVD's have some incompatibility with PathPlayer that has never been addressed.

Is anything ever going to be done to fix this?

I just made a test backup of Season 2 Disc 1 in Customize mode using v8.2.2.7 that worked fine. This was not from the Complete Series box set but from the Season 2 package, not sure if it makes any difference. The volume name of the test disc was "SG1_V1_R1_YR2".

                    Pathplayer and Stargate SG-1 Problem

When I have a chance I'll do some more testing but I can't say with certainty what difference using "DVD Copy / Fulldisk" (what I use) and "Customize mode" (which you used) would make.

As I previously mentioned, both 8.x.x.x and 9.0.x.x had this same stuck on "Opening Source" problem with the disks I had. But I should also mention that in at least one case where I let it sit for an hour or so the problem eventually resolved itself or it just timed out, I can't be sure which and it seemed like I was able to proceed to complete the copy from there. But still, having to wait an hour for DVDFab to resolve this is less than ideal.

It was mentioned earlier in this thread that this problem could be because of dirty drives or discs; I'm using two brand new Pioneer BDR-208D drives and after the initial problem I removed the discs and gave them a really good cleaning and the problem persisted so I doubt that's an issue.

Full Disc works also, with v8.2.2.7 or 9.0.2.6. The "opening source" is the same, the analysis is different.

Please post the internal log from the start of your attempt where it shows the version number.
I have no idea what pathplayer total timeout means.
                            Are you receiving read errors?

See below, it still says the same thing but please note that in the first instance of the log it took 40 minutes 12.7 seconds for Pathplayer to timeout and is this second instance it took 20 minutes 9.51 seconds.

As I mentioned in my previous post, there appears to be a Pathplayer incompatibility with some of these Stargate SG1 DVD's. The original poster also reported the same issue. Also please note that the season 7 discs that I have do not have this same problem.
