    Not Liking 9 and can't reinstall 8--HELP!!!!

No one has responded to my other posts a couple of days ago, so I'll try again. I'm really very frustrated with DVD9. I have some home movies that are on my computer that I never had a problem writing on DVD8, but everytime I try on 9 I get an immediate stoppage and an error that says it cannot read/rewrite, etc.....the file is not too big and I've tried a dozen different discs.

I really want to go back to 8.2.2.7, but for some reason my computer(Windows 8) will not finish the installation...instead, it freezes up and I have to manually shut down my computer. This computer isn't even two months old, yet the DVDFab programs are giving me issues.

I really need to make a copy of this video....it's my mom's 85th birthday and she just died a couple of months ago and someone wants a copy.

    PLEASE HELP.

I just tried to download 8.2.2.1 Qt Beta with the same problem. Everything is fine up until the "Finishing Installation"....it just keeps running and running and then I freeze up and have to manually shut down. What the heck is going on?????????????????????

Try running the installation as "Administrator"

        Hi dtbm51
Please make sure that your graphics card drivers are up to date.
What kind of GPU do you have?
Try uninstalling Fab with its uninstaller clean the registry with CCleaner until nothing is found, download a fresh installer by clicking Save and not run, browse to your download folder right click, run as administrator.
        Hope this helps

I have been on the phone with Hp for nearly two hours with this problem. Dvdfab8 will not uninstall either. At first 9 wouldn't uninstall, then after several manual restarts, we finally got 9 to uninstall, but 8 won't respond at all.

GPU is up to date...am always in Administrator as I'm the only user....don't know why we cannot uninstall either. They're installing Revo Uninstall now to see if that helps.

Are there any other W8 users having trouble with DVDFab 8? Also, why can't I write a DVD in 9 that I was able to in 8 before all this trouble started when I started upgrading. Now 9 is uninstalled, but 8 won't...

Cannot uninstall with Revo either. Do you have any other way of uninstalling your program? I'm really at my wits end here and concerned your program is corrupted in my computer. Why are all efforts to uninstall with failing???

This worked for me on W8, download the installer to the desktop, right click on it and run as administrator (even if you are the computers administrator)
And if you are running BitDefender blow it away, just disabling won't do the trick.

                  Latest update....

Could not uninstall DVDFab 8.2.2.7....did a system restore to 4 days ago and was able to make the necessary copy of my mother's birthday using 8.2.2.6.

Seems all the problems starting when I upgraded both 8 and 9, which I did because...as my original post that nobody responded to stated.....DVDFab 8.2.2.6 was taking a very very long time to "copy"....when no one answered, I began the process of updating....and that's when everything went south and I spent over 4 hours on the phone with HP today and I'm extremely exhausted and frustrated.

Don't know where and how this leaves me. I'm afraid to do anything with your update programs, or to try to uninstall anything anymore. I'm leaving it alone for now and see what the next couple of days brings.

Any other input would be greatly appreciated, but why your program would not uninstall is a mystery.

I wouldn't mind betting it is some new security feature (read as bug) in Windoze 8.

This is why you were asked to install/uninstall as "Administrator" not just your account.

                      Hi dtbm51
I also use Revo, and never had a problem using it in advanced mode.
Why would Revo not uninstall it, were there any screens that popped up giving you details as to why?
If the video that you were trying to back up had no copy protection on it, you also could have used ImgBurn.

The administrative mode was always asked and I said yes...never had an issue with other installed programs. Even tried it as suggested by saving to Desktop -- no difference.

As for Revo....the tech did use Advanced mode...it would not uninstall and he tried several times Same thing kept happening with Revo as with uninstalling from the system, it would get to a point then freeze the computer. Everytime I had to force close and restart the computer. In fact, I just reinstalled DVDFab 9 (yes, I'm a glutton for punishment), and the same thing happened....it froze before installation was completed.

As long as 8.2.2.6 is owrking now....I'm ok, but I'm not satisfied with what's going on, especially if I have to update to another version. Thye tech insists it has something to do with your program because my system checks out fine and all other programs are installing and uninstalling correctly.

What the tech said was expected but complete rubbish. I and thousands of others run DVDFab on Windows 8 without issue.

There is nothing in v9 that prevents reinstalling v8, try uninstalling everything and starting again.

                              Hey dtbm51,

I have an HP laptop that is going back for repair for the 4th time since December. Their Tech Support people suck! They replaced my HDD twice & reloaded the Operating System once, and I was still having problems! I suggested checking/replacing Motherboard and /or memory, but they totally ignored me!
