This is weird....surprisingly, without doing anything this is what I discovered. If I leave the screen up the speed tops out at 0.62MB/s after an hour and about 50% complete I minimized it to the systray and opened it up a minute later and the speed had increased, but the longer I left it open the speed would decrease. So I left it minimized through completion the speed increased to about 5.0MB/s.

Scratching my head on this one, I did main movie of The Hobbit DVD to DVD-5 so that significant compression would be required. I use both version 8.2.2.8 and version 9.0.3.5 with identical results. There must be something different about the way version 9 utilizes your system resources than it does for version 8 and based on your findings the graphics has something to do with it.

what i ment was there is a log included from version 9 and a log included from version 8, both using the same title.
i didn't look to see what title bluesman was using, the point was to give you the information from version 8 and version 9 using the same dvd.
          hope it helps

            Slow Rip

I am having same problem as BLUESMAN with latest stable version, non blu ray. Ripping was taking over 2 hours a movie. If I minimize screen it takes off at normal speed. When movie is done screen automatically maximizes. No problems with previous Fab versions. My OS is Win XP, SP3.

              Hi Bluesman,
Just to let you know. I am having the EXACT same problem with latest stable release of Fab that you are having.

                Hi there,
                1.Please goto Control Panel\Hardware and Sound and then click "Deivce Manger";
2.Goto IDE ATA/ATAPI controlers, check each ATA channels' Advanced Settings "Enable DMA". If it's unmarked, please mark it, restart your PC and try DVD copy again.

                  Slow Rip

I would think if this was the problem ALL versions would be slow, not just latest version.

I think you are probably correct Rog. If you have SATA interface optical drive(s), DMA would not be a factor in any event. But I can't reproduce the problem you are seeing. The oddest part is the speed improvement with the window minimized. That makes no sense at all to me but is probably a clue.

                      Slow Rip

Thank you for the reply. I did notice the latest version looks a little different, so something changed. I wonder if it has something to do with Win XP. Version 9.0.2.8 and older have been good for me.

I don't have an XP machine anymore but, I have a junker I fixed for the grandkids. It's an old AMD single core slooow computer. I did put Windows 7x64 on though. It's not as fast as my i7 but still respectable at 10.30 MB/s. So unless it does have something to do with XP I'm lost

With the last or two last version I used, it takes about 15 hours ! Any idea ?

Please follow the steps below to see the result:

                            1. Open explorer window, and go to "C:\Program Files (x86)\DVDFab 9\" or your installation folder.

                            2. Rename "profiles5" sub-folder to "profiles5_", and rename "author" to "author_".

                            3. Run DVDFab 9 again to see the result.

                            Thanks.

                                Dear all,

Please try a special build of DVDFab v9038 to see the result:

The processing task queue is hidden, but you still can get the copy speed.

                                Thanks.

                                Best Regards,
