Silver Linings Playbook fails to burn

Silver Linings Playbook DVD fails to burn to DVD5. DVD copies OK but when writable media (DVD-R) is loaded, the program appears to start the burn process and then ejects the disc with error #105.

I originally tried this with DVDFab 8.2.1.0 which I'd been using successfully since its release. I searched this forum for errors relating to this movie and found only one unanswered posting back in early April. I then downloaded and installed DVDFab 9.0.4.0 and started again from scratch. Same result: Failed to copy, error #105.

I've tried different copies of blank media with no success. I've been using media from this batch of DVD-R blanks with no problems.

Here are pastes from both the dvdfab_internal.log and dvdfab_process.log files:

File is too big to fit the blank. My advice is to customize the DVD5 size to 4472 and give it a try. 4488 is just too big and the transcoder is not perfect.

I would also select the DVDFab Burning Engine. Unless you are using Verbatim blanks, reduce the size to 4464 and the burn speed to 8X max, less if you are using inexpensive media.

Success! Thank you both for great advice.

I took your advice and reduced the media size using the custom media size setting, reduced burn speed to 8X and switched to the DVDFab Burning Engine (I was using VSO).

DVD is presently burning normally. It looks as though my problem has been solved. If not, I'll edit this post later tonight.

Same fix for A Glimpse Into the Mind of Charles........

Guys, just wanted to let you know that I was having the same burn problem with this movie and was getting VERY frustrated, but the simple adjustment of lowering the DVD-R size to 4464 and the write speed to 8X fixed the problem. It might be a good idea if DVD Fab could fix this in the next release. Thanks.

I use 4472, just a personal preference, a bit less compression and have never had a problem.

              Hi jcbaty
There is nothing for Fab to fix, you should never burn to close to the outer edge of the disc.
My settings are the same as my friend 90312, and never have had a bad burn.

And it really depends on how good the media you are using is!!

Agree with my friend CBR929 that there is nothing for Fab to fix.
