The "DVD to DVD" option is expired...

I bought this program last February, with a 1-year license.

I have used it without problem since then. When I changed operating systems two months ago, from Windows XP Pro to Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise x64, the program continued to work just fine.

Today, when I started it, it said 'The "DVD to DVD" option is expired.
Please buy it or renew it at the '.

I had an earlier version, 6.0.7.0, I think. So I upgraded it to the current version, 6.2.0.5. I got the same result.

It's not a year old, so I can't see how it could have expired.

I use two drives, and can provide all the information, but the salient point is that it worked fine the last time I used it, with nothing changed from then until now.

Anyone have any experience with this? I have submitted the question to technical support, but I thought I'd ask here while waiting for a response. For what it's worth, here are the last two log entries:

    Hi Dave
Sorry this happened. None of the forum staff have access to the business records that would be needed to correct the early expiration. Please use the Contact Us link on the dvdfab.com website and select Business Issues from the drop down topic selector. Explain what happened and provide a link to this thread so the staff can read the details.

I have a feeling you did not activate it correctly and just used the 30 day free trial and when that ended you got the message you are getting now. Download the activation key which is the attachment you got in email when you purchased and save to desktop or other place on computer. Then double click it and restart DVDFab to see if it registered or not

AGJ, I'm not trying to be a smartass, but I don't think you read my message.

I purchased this product in February, and it has worked steadily since, until the 21st of December. That's considerably longer than 30 days.

Nonetheless, one thing I had not done was to try registering the software again with my existing key.

The standard process (double-clicking on the key file) did not work; it told me the application was not found. I moved the key in to the same folder as the application, and tried again. Same result - application not found.

When I opened the program, pressed to the 'enter Registration' button, and pasted the contents of the key there - it worked (after a restart of the product, of course).

I suppose that it couldn't find the application because it was looking for the DVD5 version, which was what was available when I bought it.

I still have no idea why it decided not to work after 10 months, but I thank you for suggesting the solution, and I appreciate your time.

Just a thought, when you upgraded to version 6 did you request a new key as version 5 key will not work for 6. This process is free for registered users.

It worked for me, from whenever I upgraded until Monday.

And it worked again today. The file is named Key.DVDFabPlatinum5, and as I said above, after I manually re-input its contents this morning, DVDFab (version 6.2.0.5) worked just fine.

I'm not sure where you got your information, but my experience is that it is wrong.

I know that when upgrading to v6 the reg. key was changed to cut out pirated keys. I would recomend upgrading to the v6 key and all should be good for you. I'm actually puzzled why your v5 key worked for v6???

                Chris you are correct.
The V5 key should not have worked.
The software is designed for the V5 key to fail with V6

I also am puzzled as to why it worked, but then I am puzzled by many things.

I think the V5 "DVD to DVD" key will work in V6 but not the others. When I originally upgraded to V6 my "to DVD" stayed active and the "to Mobile" required a new V6 key.

Yes I did read your message and if you read all the activation problems that we get on this forum then you would know why I said that. Also from what you said about getting it to work I was correct with what I said in my post.

Also, have a read of the "Registration Key Problems" in the "Answers to Common Questions" section of the forum.

I suspect that there is a security issue with your OS, which by the way, is not yet supported.
