No ASPI Mode in New Version

I have found that ASPI Mode doesnt work in the new version, is this supposed to be that way?

Nothing in the release notes. I have not had time to install it yet. It is needed on some systems and useful for test purposes also, I hope it has not been removed completely.

Yeah, I think ASPI is broken in this version. I selected it in read, insert a disk it just never picks it up.

There is no need to use ASPI, you should use AUTO or SPTI on Windows 2000/XP/7.

I think we all agree that there is usually no need to use it, but having it there is useful for testing and for a workaround if something else (like the MagicJack VoIP phone) interferes with SPTI but ASPI I/O is normal. There was nothing in the release notes about it, so there way no way to know if it was purposefully disabled.

PLEASE EXCUSE me asking, but I don't even know what this ASPI is, I am just curious now that ''fengtao'' has found and fixed the problem whatever it is/was, he must have altered something, do we need to download and instal the latest version again?

This is my first posting to this forum. I too have experienced the ASPI mode problem (I use ASPI mode for compatibility with magicjack, which is the primary landline phone device for my home). I rolled back to 6.1.2.5 upon finding this issue; do I simply need to re-run the upgrade?

ASPI is another method of accessing your optical drives but if it ain't broke, no need to fix it.

As an operating procedure though, I ALWAYS keep the installers for ALL versions that I download (disk space is cheap) and ALWAYS upgrade to the latest beta or production version, whichever is the latest, because this will contain updates to new copy protection schema and bugfixes.

As you aware, Fab is an ongoing project and will NEVER be fixed in concrete.

The reason that I keep the installers is that I can always rollback to a previous version.

Actually I have been doing that lately, keeping the previous official release and beta, some helpful fellow advised me to, I think it was you.

Just I didn't know whether to remove the latest official version and download it and instal it again?

I am guessing NOT necessary, for what I do?
