Still problems: Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

Hi. I tried posting last week in the existing thread but no responses were posted. We just got this DVD (in the combo set with blu-ray and digital). I don't have a blu-ray drive to try that.

When I try the DVD in either a Windows 8 PC or a Mac OSX 10, DVDFab detects the disk title properly but shows 0MB capacity. When I start the copy, it finishes in a couple of seconds and the VIDEO_TS folder is empty.

I have updated DVDFab to the latest version on both platforms.

try this - start dvdfab - click "common settings" in upper right corner
select "dvd" - "pathplayer" - " disable pathplayer" restart dvdfab
and try the disc again

Still not working

Thanks for the reply, but it still didn't work. I tried both Mac and PC. The disk is now reporting as 52.633GB and 15% compressed size to 8100. It tries to read for a bit, then fails with "video quality is not reachable" and an error code 401.

try using "main movie" option. see if that works.

Ok, tried it. When I use "main movie", it shows 0MB again. I click start, and it starts, does one VOB for about 2 seconds, stops, and shows a "completed successfully" message, but of course there's nothing there.

The title it chose for the main movie was number 96, and showed over 3hours long.

did you try main movie with pathplayer enabled or disabled ??

It selects a different title (02, showing 12 seconds long), still shows 0MB, and takes about 2 seconds to "complete successfully". Still no good.

Is there no solution?

So has anyone actually gotten this title to backup? I thought in other threads that previous versions had solved the issue. Is this a newer version of the release with different protection? I appreciate October252's help, but is there any official word from DVDFab? Thanks.

Exact problem here.

Using 9.2.2.4, Windows 7, all symptoms exactly the same as levins0.

Tried each suggestion recommended to him, got same results.

Any update on this?

Hi Dave. I still haven't solved my problem with this, but I was able to use the DVD ripper to at least rip an MP4 of the main title. I keep everything as raw DVD VOBs, so I'd still like to get this solved, but in the meantime at least I could get a digital file out of it.

Thanks; I'm puzzled that this is a problem for a 5 year old title. Attempting to rip this title gave me the same result (processing for a few seconds, then ejecting the disk and reporting success) as trying to copy it. I have only purchased and activated the DVD copy module, so I am not surprised.


I too save everything to hard drive as raw VOBs, by the way. No need for disk copies as backups; the hard drives are removable.

You know, I might have actually done it on the Mac instead of DVDFab. I honestly can't remember which tool I used for making the MP4.

I wonder if they changed the protection on the title sometime recently? Does that even happen? Like a new run of the product or something...

Please install DVDFab v9.2.2.5 Beta and allow it to open the disc (do not cancel it), then attach the log session that process creates to a post. Note that the free or unregistered version of DVDFab will not be able to open this disc and that PathPlayer must be set to Always Enable.
