Problem Making A DVD Copy - Dangerous Liaisons (2013)

The original disc plays fine on my dvd player, both the dvd and the dvd player are region 1. But when I make a copy using IMGburn the copy of the disc will say "cannot play". I can watch the copied disc fine from my PC, just not on my dvd player.

Check your ImgBurn settings, make sure it is placing both ISO9660 and UDF 1.02 file systems on the burned disc. Also, what is the burn speed setting in ImgBurn and the brand and type of blank disc you are using? What player software on your PC?

All my imgburn settings are fine, the discs I'm using are memorex dvd-r. They're not scratched and it burns other DVD copies fine with no problem. It's just for this particular DVD it will not load for my DVD player. Which is strange because I've burned other "Well Go USA" studio dvd's and never encountered this problem.

As for the software on my PC I have PowerDVD 10 and it reads and plays the copied DVD fine.

The firmware on my DVD player is also up to date.

So I'm at a loss.

Try burning your discs at 4x
Also hold the blank disc up to the light
And see if you can see any defects.

No defects, made 4 copies all at different speeds with the same result. lol

Please do as my friend suggested on checking the option in ImgBurn for OPC also please post your ImgBurn burn log for this particular movie. The log can be found by opening ImgBurn > Help > ImgBurn Logs, posting instructions in the link in my signature.

Did you use Memorex disks on your burns that work? This brand of disks made by ri tek are really cheap disks and have a high failure rate among many users for many years with that said if the img burn settings that set the laser power to brand of disks used combined with burning at 4x speeds doesn't help then look for updated burner firmware for your drive.

This was my first IMGburn log, I've run out of discs to burn with so I'll probably have to re-try doing this over the next week day. Probably buy DVD-RW discs since they're on sale at Frys.

Hi Shawk
Your log looks fine except for the write speed which should be set at half the rated speed for the discs that you're using. Memorex are garbage, sorry. DVD-RW discs are rewritable and are good for testing. When you get new discs try getting a better quality if possible like Verbatim discs with the AZO dye on the package and not the Life series.

Good news all, I used a verbatim DVD-RW disc and changed the speed to 4x and also checked the box in IMGburn settings "OPC". And the copied DVD is now playing on my DVD player. Thanks for the help.

I also encountered the same issue with another DVD: "Get A Job" https://www.amazon.com/Get-Job-Digit.../dp/B01DJT747K

But the steps above CBR gave corrected the problems I was having with each of the DVDs.

And with the Memorex DVD-R's you can never really tell what you are getting, I purchased the 100 pack and it uses the RITEK discs, and the 50 pack of the Memorex uses CMC (mixed bag of luck). I've tried other brands like Optimum/Ridata and HP and all have the similar low quality made types just under another brand name. I don't get many failed attempts when I burn with them and the times they did fail I had multiple programs running without my speedfan on.

There was 1 disc though that had like a oil bleed stain on it that looked as if battery oil had leaked on it. When I burned over it, that disc wouldn't play the content... but for $10.99 for a 100 pack 1 bad disc isn't that bad.

Most recently I have been burning HP branded DVD+R inkjet printable media (which is CMC oem media) and having imgburn defaulted to set booktype to DVD-ROM. They have worked 100% for a very long time. This is with a Lite-On burner with speed set at 8x for 16x media.

Glad it's working for you now!!! You do not need to always set the burn speed at 4X using quality media such as Verbatim with the AZO dye DVD+R or DVD-R and Taiyo Yuden DVD-R as these are quality discs.
