Rolling Images after burn??

I have used DVD to DVD to burn my TS files. After the burn is complete, I try to play them in my stand alone DVD player, the movie rolls on the screen. I can see that the movie is visible, (behind the roll), and the sound is good, but the screen won't stop rolling upwards, like the old TV sets from yesteryear. What went wrong with my burn, and how do I correct this problem? Thank you for any, and all replies.

Hi Crickkette and welcome to the forum! Based on my experience this sounds more like an issue with the stand alone player getting out of sync than your back up. I had one of those little cheap players in the bedroom, not much bigger than the DVD, and it did the same thing as it was gasping its last. Try playing that backup in a different player or in the computer and see if it rolls. I’ve read where folks had to move the stand alone player farther from the TV because it interfered with the player and caused this.

I've never heard of this before...that is unless you're talking our old Dumont TV from the 50's with the vertical roll...lol.

I suspect the disc will play just fine in your pc.
If not, try to play the files directly from the hdd with a software player like VLC and we'll go from there.

I played the disc with VLC, and it plays well. I have a New Panasonic dvd/cd player, and that is where I can't view it from. The movie still rolls. Since I can play it in my VLC, what do you suggest next? I still have the avi.file on my pc, as well as the TS_video file. I burned it as a converted avi-to-TS with a VSO DivxtoDVD program. Does a dvd player determine whether a particular dvd is either Pal, or NTSC? And does it matter, and could this be the problem? I'm new to this, so if I come across less than knowledgable, I apologize. Thank you for your help in advance, it's greatly appreciated!

Yes...A set-top DVD player certainly can distinguish between PAL and NTSC... and unless your player can play both formats, If you try to play a PAL on an NTSC system, I'm surprised that you just get a rolling picture, and not a lot worse...

1.) DivxToDVD won't handle a PAL=> NTSC conversion...you'll need something else...

2.) This seems to have nothing to do with DVDFab, so should have been posted in another section...

3.) I won't ask you where you got a movie in .avi format - no commercial releases are done in that particular format...

First of all, thank you all for your help. I will try and figure this out somehow. I apologize for posting here. It won't happen again. Like I said, I'm new to all of this, just didn't know it was the right church, wrong pew.

Also since all you need to do is burn to DVD you can use ImgBurn for that as well, not know this size of the file but ImgBurn does not compress but VSO forum will know more about what you need to do than we do here since DVDFab did not create the files. We was all new at one point in time and some of us still learning so no problems and hope you do get it worked out but I think it really a PAL/NTSC format issue

VSO ConvertXtoDVD will do the PAL->NTSC conversion, at least the version I have. Not familiar with the DivxtoDVD name.

I have DIVXTODVD by VSO and it did convert PAL to NTSC with no problem. Actually, after converting it, I burnt it, and it turned out great. This has been my problem all along. It was in PAL, instead of NTSC. From now on I will check to see if my file is in PAL format, and if it is, I'll just use DIVXTODVD to fix it. No more rolling of movies here.
