I suppose the first question I should ask is: Is your dvd-recorder set up to handle DVD-RW discs?

Because the -RW format is re-useable, there are slight differences between the way a -R and a -RW are set up, and where various bits of info are stored. I've read a technical explanation of this, but I can't render it into a few simple words of explanation (partly due to the fact I didn't understand all of it myself).

Also, since some the specs for -RW are open to interpretation, it can mean (and usually does) that the various manufacturers handle things based on their engineers interpretation of the MMC spec differently, which translates in our real world to a situation where some mfr's. machines will play back just fine, and a similar machine from another mfr. won't.

I can't give you a solution to this, but if you'll take a little advice... stay away from the - & +RW discs, and stick with the write-once discs - the specs on those are a little tighter, and the manufacturers don't differ too much in the way they're set up.

Yep my Panasonic dvd-recorder handles all the standerd dvd's.The model number is dmr-xw350. What is strange I use Nero express to burn the dvd-rw disk and they work. so their must be something in the vso burning engine that causes it not to function properly.

Have you taken any of our advice on your previous thread of the same subject?
If you choose not too, that's certainly your choice, but then why ask?...
              and why ask again?

              I am merging these threads

Recommend that you try Img..as W&B suggested. It's free, more reliable, more configurable
and can be integrated to work within Fab. Just click on the link he posted.

As DC said, nero can be utilized within Fab as well

Agree with CBR929, RW's are less than ideal for video archiving or bkups.
Is there a specific reason that you want to stick with -RW media?

Brands don't tell us much with few exceptions...Verbatim being one of the exceptions.
It makes more sense to refer to blank media by MID (media ID).

If you post a burn log or two, we can take a look, but I wouldn't hold out too much hope for the -RW media and VSO.

Nothing jumps out at your burn log except your choice of media and we've already been there.
You may want to take a look at some user comments re: this media.

Based on 16 user comments, burn reliability is mixed and console player reliability (your panny) is mixed

If you want to stick with this media (your choice, but a poor one...no offense and JMO), switch burn engines.
As we said, the other two can be integrated to work within Fab

Just so you know DVDFab does not make the VSO burn engine so it not a DVDFab issue but really a VSO issue since the VSO burn engine is not closing the DVD-RW media for you. Here is a link that you can read for what you can do about a VSO issue

I thought I would post a picture of the error code my dvd recorder gives me when i try to play a burnt dvd-rw disk using the vso burning engine. Who is in charge of developing the vso burning engine as this is a big problem I would prefer to use dvd-rw and not dvd-r as they only write once.

VSO software is who develops the VSO burn engine and they have a forum of their own to post for help. Use the link I posted in post #23 or better yet give ImgBurn a try as I have no problems with that and DVD-RW media

Do you use a dvd player or recorder as i have found the problem seems to exist with dvd-recordes rather than dvd players( JUST DOWNLOADED IMGBURN WORKS FANTASTIC WAY BETTER THAN THE VSO BURNING ENGINE

I used a DVD recorder and DVD player with all DVDFab back ups and never got playback issues. Good to know you like ImgBurn as it gives you more than what VSO does and is free as well

Myself I always use the VSO burn engine as myself like you I just want to use one program and have burnt over 500 movies with no problems with the VSO engine
The type of media I use is called Taiyo Yudan (8x DVD-R). I have found out that this brand is exactly better than the Verbatim brand. You can burn just about anything on the Taiyo Yudan brand. It is recommended that when burn a DVD movie on to any media, the speed should be set at either 4x or 8x. Setting the speed at a faster pace is a good way to produce lots of errors on the burned DVD movie. Hope this helps. Leter....c0afanh.
