I've been getting problems downloading the beta versions of dvd fab 7. It would read the disc, then nothing. Is the beta versions still compatible to Windows XP? I downloaded on a different computer with Windows Vista and it reads.

The official version 6.2.1.8 works just fine. Beta versions 6.2.2.0, 7.0.1.0 and 7.0.1.2 don’t open the source DVD on my system. If I had problems with the official version, I’d make changes to my system. However, when a beta fails to work properly, I think changes need to be made with the beta version. I’ll wait for things to be sorted out some more.

I don't think "long shots" are in order to make beta versions work properly.

I totally agree with you. I'm having problems with the beta versions too. What OS do you have? I have XP.

Thiscould be the problem but not sure. All you can do is try since your having problems. I do not have these problems so any help would be a guess coming from me

I'm running XP MCE SP3. People running various other OS's are having the same problem. A bug of some sort seems to be in all versions after 6.2.1.8 so it is not just a version 7 problem.

There is just one version 6 released after version 6.2.1.8 and the rest are version 7 releases

That is correct. The problem first started with beta version 6.2.2.0 and then was carried over to all the other beta 7 versions. I think it may also be causing a problem with passkey versions as well. I am unable to get any of the passkey versions to open a disc.

Version 6.2.2.0 was the first to have an expandable window. Perhaps that is part of the problem?

I am running XP SP3 and have never had any problems with any of the beta's and I have had FAB since version 2.9, there might be something else going on in your computer maybe that is causing a conflict

Yes, I replaced my ASPI with the Frog ASPI and it made no difference. But I too suspect an ASPI conflict of some sort.

Well, I’m not as old as you. I only go back to version 4. But it’s not just my computer. Lot’s of other users have reported the same problem after version 6.2.1.8. And the USS Oriskany is just a few miles away from me in the Gulf of Mexico!

You're one of the lucky people! You would most likely not have any problems with version 7, but I think you're wise to wait.

I've been using DVDFab since version 3 and never had this problem and using the latest V7.0.2.5 beta. Have you tried switching to SPTI to see if that fixes the problem for you

Yes. I normally run SPTI but I have tried all the I/O modes (ASPI, SPTI and AUTO) without any change in the results. Let me add, I didn't mean to hijack your thread csbond2. I'm just trying to find a solution for all of us suffering with this problem.
