    Hi Rob and welcome,

I don't have this flick yet, but other users are reporting problems.
However, some are successfully backing it up.
There may be multiple versions within the same region.
    Are you R1?

I'm going to move your thread to the appropriate "Sherlock" thread in the DVD to DVD subforum.
I'll leave a redirect so you can find it.

    Good luck
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

I think by accident you moved the thread to the general chat, I moved it back.

My first post after using DVDFab since it first came out years ago...

Haven't read all of this thread - however, RipIt4Me>Shrink>Imgburn works fine to backup either main movie or whole disk for Sherlock Holmes Region 1. Yes, I would say the problem is in the transcoding part of DVDFab. RipIt4Me (actually the FixVTS part) removes over 16,000 extraneous pack headers before the compression transcoding, which I'm guessing is the problem.

I don't profess to be an expert - however, I'm pretty good at approaching things logically. I always use DVDFab first, then RipIt4Me next, then wait for an update to DVDFab that solves whatever the problem might be.

              Hi pyro262,

There is a thread running on this movie.
I'm merging yours with it in the DVD to DVD subforum.
Hopefully, you can get some help/answers

Like said already Passkey and DVD shrink can do the movie until DVDFab is able to compress it correctly

Ok I posted yesterday that I backed my copy up I didnot check the output file, and yes it was too large for a DVD 5 So sorry, I put the cart before the horse.. but I did today use the other post and use shrink and Imgburn and it worked ok, Iam a lifetime member also, I do not back up alot due to some of my movies are only to me good to watch once, and I generaly watch the movie first before making a decision if I want to back it up, So I never get in a hurry when a problem happens, I know that the fix will always get done in time. So sorry for yesterdays post....

Passkey is not even needed, just use Shrink. I just used it and its perfect. You may be interested to know for an old program, Shrink works on most movies. Hope this helps..

                      You are correct checkers.
But you need to set fab on dvd 9 before ripping to hard drive. At least I did and I removed all the foreign language options.
This helped reduce the compression size for shrink.
                      Movie Only and R1.

                          Cannot burn "Sherlock Holmes" video

                          Hi,
I had the same experience in not being able to burn the video "Sherlock Holmes". I found that if I used a double layer DVD it "burnt" correctly. Make sure your DVD burner will support double layer format DVD's and set DVDFab 7 in DVD9, and you should be able to burn said video. Hope this helps.

                            Me Too!

Sherlock Holmes has caused me the same problem. I cannot burn, and it states the same error message as mentioned previously.

altho i'm sure Fengtao will come up with fix by time flick is generally available to all since it is a popular one ...
I too had trouble with this one. It would decrypt but would not compress or, when it eventually did (I reinstalled DVDFab (6.2.1.8)) it left 4.8Gigs instead of its usual 4.17Gigs. Finally after 3 trys, I used the old but dependable DVD Decrypter then used DVD Shrink to get the proper sized set of files.
This seems to be just a problem with S.H. as 3 other DVDs were backed up without problem.
